Dillon was punched with a closed fist into the stomach, an area he was carrying an injury in all year - if you can justify colm cavanagh getting more hangtime than michael jordan then you havent a leg to stand on as regards dillon. There was minimal force exerted on cavanagh and he was just trying to get o'shea a card. It was a foul, but he made sure he was getting booked - harshly in my opinion.
I think what mcconnell done was just as bad as what o'shea done and he could have got a card as the 3rd man in a tackle, although I think neither should have been booked.

I say tyrone are the worst for it because they are. They do it more often than anyone else to the point where it looks rehearsed. An example is the high tackles. Cunniffe got a far worse high tackle than gormley did. O'niell had his arm down over his shoulder and up tight to his neck. Cunniffe just kept going forward, won his foul and that was that. Gormley had a hand placed on the top of his shoulder, he catches the hand, turns his body like he is being pulled and throws himself into the air. There is one example.
They also throw themselves to the ground when surrounded and engineer frees very often. They try to wind guys up and influence the ref - disingenuously. They have earned the reputation they have.

No team in the country does this, it simply does not work.

TheMaster

Then you'd agree that Aiden O'Shea's deliberate elbow in Frank McGlynn's face in the QF should have been a straight red card and he should have been banned for the SF?

On a brighter note 3 teams left in race for sam and not a nordie amongst them. Good times. Good times.

Have to agree am very happy that there are no Ulster teams in the last 3. With the way the Semi's lined up if there was an Ulster team left Mayo were out.

What makes you think that, Exile? Mayo actually have a pretty good record against Ulster sides (certainly a lot better than our championnship record against Kerry!). They've beaten Ulster opposition in three out of four meetings in the past two championship seasons. They've also a winning record against Ulster sides in the championship over the past decade or so.

By the by, the O'Shea incident is pretty embarrassing and he was lucky not to get a red card (though Cavanagh's swan-dive is also pretty embarrassing). He has a worrying tendency to get drawn into these things, which will have to be curbed if Mayo are going to win Sam.

We were playing the only Ulster team left in the championship in the semi so by definition if they made the final we were out.

Was this Sean Cavanaghs last game for Tyrone. Hopefully not as he is in the form of his life.

MuckrossHead "Three Ulster teams in Div 1 2013, more than anyone else" 2 of which were relegated, you failed to point out.
