Mayo by 5. Realistically is there anything in that Tyrone full forward line to trouble players of the calibre of Cafferkey and Higgins? I don't think so especially without Penrose. I think Mayo will have too much up front for Tyrone as well. Sean Cavanagh stood out in the qualifiers and the quarter final as the talisman. However, he will have no such impact against this opposition at this level as his threat will be negated by Aidan O'Shea who should dominate the skies.
--------------------------------------------------------
Disagree with that analysis Sergeant.Don't think O'Shea will rule the skies at all,I hope Mickey puts Cassidy in beside him for at least a while and the Cavanaghs won't be letting him off with much either! I know some Tyrone posters will probably disagree but I'm not at all disappointed that Penrose won't play.I know he is a good work horse of a player that chases out field and tackles and harries defenders trying to move the ball outfield but he is supposed to be a forward and he isn't getting the scores enough times. Mc Alliskey,Mc Curry and O'Neil to shine on Sunday!

Muckross

While I wouldn't be 51's biggest fan I do feel that retort was eloquently put.

For your information muckross see below:

Goad: Verb
Provoke or annoy (someone) so as to stimulate some action or reaction.

Ilk: Synonyms
sort - kind - species - type - genus - variety - breed

Back to school with you.

I would safely say ronan mcnabb will start for penrose and play the deep role, much better suited to it anyway with great reading of the game and clever use of the ball. Ronan O'Neill will be the first tyrone forward coming on, was good against monaghan and has been rolling back the years since, be big performance from him of the bench on sunday, potential game swinger.

i think real Mayo supportes won't need to goad anyone after the game. They'll just enjoy the victory gracefully - provided we win of course.

We'll leave the goading to 51long ago and his Ilk.

Mayo by at least 8 pts. Could be another slaughter if Mayo really kick into gear.

I cannot see anything else than Dublin v Mayo in the All-I.....in spite of the psychological influence of Kerry's tradition and Mickey Harte being able always to get the best out of his team. I would give Kerry a better chance of beating Dublin but it would be still a big surprise for me Still there are 3 great games coming up. Mayo for me are simply the best team in 2013 and Dublin not far behind.....A great A.I. in prospect with real good fast open football to put the socalled 'blanket defending' back to where it belongs !!!!

Anyone who thinks Tyrone will bully Mayo on Sunday is being seriously naive. Mayo wont bat an eyelid at the big bad men from Tyrone. Ye honestly think the likes of Vaughan, Boyle, Keegan, O'Connor, the O'Sheas etc. will be intimidated by anyone?? This "wait til the Tyrone boys get a hold of them" theory is complete bull.

I went to school and know a few of the current Mayo team. Was talking to one of our backs yesterday and totally focused they are. Last year at the homecoming in a wet, depressing McHale Park, they were already on about next year. Sound bunch of lads too, really hope they can do it this year for themselves, their families and for the people of Mayo.

I can assure though they are only taking about "Game 5" at the minute against Tyrone and nothing else.

'we came here with a job to do', 'one game at a time', 'we have won no silverware today'
I can imagine the post game interview.

If you are talking about boring post match interviews then I know what you mean but I actually think Horan has been honest enough in interviews this year which is refreshing. Not trying to play down the fact Mayo are favourites but rather accept it.

Good article in today's Irish news which says that although there will be no need for shirt changes due to the teams differing colour patterns, Maurice Deegan was never going to be confused as to who was who, as the Mayo players will be wearing white hats! I have never wanted Tyrone to win a game more (excepting all matches against Kerry) than this one. Even though Tyrone are the underdogs, and the Irish generally favour the underdog, not so here, with the supposed neutral crowd all baying for Tyrone blood. And don't be fooled into thinking this is a result of poor Mayo not having won it before. All very strange and disappointing from fellow Irish men the length and breadth of our Country.

What any one on this forum says really doesn't matter a hill of beans for Sunday. But I suppose we all want to think we have an imput to give.
My own feelings(to immediately contradict the last sentence) is that it feels very like 2008 for Tyrone. That very wet Saturday when Tyrone were given no chance by anyone against Dublin(myself included)and proceeded to blow that years series wide apart with a display that will live down through the ages.
However we really don't know , we can only dream and hope.
I suppose that no one would begrudge Mayo another shot at the A.I. and if Tyrone can't win it here's hoping it goes to the friendliest county in Ireland.

Just curious as to how you came to the assumption that all neutrals will be "baying for Tyrone blood"? From a few comments on HS? I know plenty of people the length and breadth of our country who will be shouting for Tyrone.

Tyrone should wind Mayo up big time on Sunday; get right in their faces, goad them, antagonise them, hit them a few hard whallops in the early mins and ask their players how many All Ireland medals they have. The media are going to bad mouth Tyrone anyway so they may as well actually do something to earn the abuse.

---------

What do you mean by they should? This is normal tactics is it not.

I for one will be siding with the Southern based anti-Ulster media mafia sports hacks on this and wishing Mayo all the best against those cynical fouling northern bullies.

Right guys getting a bit fed up with all this snipping. I think Tyrone are being hard done by in the Media on here. They are no different from any team in the Championship IMO. All teams play to the edge and will try to gain what advantage they can. It is nothing knew, all teams have done it over the years. God, years ago it would be all out war sometimes on a football pitch. What we see today is nothing compared to the past. Teams used to knock holes out of each other, i'm getting fed up listening and reading all this rubbish TBH.

Back to the match, I think Mayo will win by about 4 pts and we will see a great game of football. Both teams have some class players but i just feel it is going to Mayo's year. That steal that was Donegal last year is IMO in Mayo this. I watched all the quarterfinals and of the 4 games the Tyrone game was by far the best. They have improved through the back door and look more like their old selves in the quarters. But that will not be enough in my opinion Mayo will win and they will meet Dublin in the final IMO.

I predict there will be 120 pages of comments on this thread in the days after the game.
Mayo will win after a bruising first half by 5 points.
Neither side will finih with 15 - Tyrone with less players on field at end than Mayo.

Joe Brolly will be smiling, full of praise for - Tyrone!
