Its not that they wouldn't do the same....but if you watched Dublin last night. Theres nothing in their gameplan that says....drag a guy down.

Tyrone plan to drag guys down. Its what they do.

The Meath Number 5 walked to the linesman after he was wrestled to the ground three times from three Meath kickouts....without the ball!!! And he was asking when something would be done about this...and the linesman ignored him. Shocking stuff.

Its a horrible disgusting brand of football.....Its FOUL FOUL FOUL.

Hats off Joe Brolly, had the grit to call it how it was!! Joe Sheridan going over for a try in the Leinster final v Louth, Sean Cavanagh acting like Brian O'Driscoll, well done Joe, Cavanagh, Tyrone and the G.A.A. should sit up and take notice

As much as Brolly is correct in what he says, he should NEVER have attacked Sean Cavanagh the person! He's right to give out about cynicism as such but a personal attack is extreme to say the least. I agree with the majority of people that if it was one of your own, you'd expect the same. I don't often defend Tyrone but on this occasion Cavanagh was given no option and Tyrone are coming off as "rotten". Not fair at all.

Another point. It just shows the work rate of Cavanagh that he was the man in place to make that foul. He covered every area of that pitch yesterday, he's passionate about the game and his county and there's no doubting that. A cert for player of the year so far!

Yeah it probably would lead to more diving. I think no matter what they do to cut it out they will only do so by hurting/penalising the team that uses this tactic to spoil and break up play.

Its about time that a pundit - respected or not- came out strong and called it as he sees it. He is absolutely correct in admonishing the cynical aspects of Tyrone's play yesterday.
He is not correct in commenting on the integrity of Sean Kavanagh and Mickey Harte. Both have been outstanding ambassadors for their county and for football.
I can appreciate the frustration of Joe Brolly and his comments regarding club teams down as far as under 16's adpting similar tactical cynical fouling up and down the country based on Tyrone and other counties example is spot on.
Lets be honest - it is one of the things - a cancer - on our game.
The black card will be the first step in ridding our game of this cancer.
The black card will I believe be just the first step - it will be extended not just for 3 players but will be adopted for the FIRST player committing such a foul - and the sooner it is the better.
So I salute Joe Brolly on the key element of his argument - ie that such cynical fouling is a disgrace and does nothing for the reputation of the players , the managers and the counties that adopt it.

It is a poor state of affairs for Colm O'Rourke and Pat Spillane and a sign of how low we have reached that such respected pundits ACCEPT it as part of our games. It just shows how deep a hole regarding our acceptance of the situation - and the difficulty we are going to have to shift opinion to ensure that such behaviour is eliminated.
We need to adopt a mindset where such behaviour will not be tolerated. Look at how officials have this year adopted their zero tolerance of head high tackles in hurling!!!!

Padraic Harnan is only 18 and is as tough as nails but there is only so much of this one can take. Can't believe linesman did nothing about it.

Cavan stopped a certain Donaghy goal with a foul but will we see the same level of media attention on Cavan as on Cavanagh? No.

Cynical foul by Kerry number 22 just now in 36th minute on Mc Dermott. Will we see the same media focus as on Cavanagh? No.

Joe Brolly's own Derry committed the worst example of completely cynical and stifling tactics in 2006. Nothing new...

Personal attacks on Sean Cavanagh and Mickey Harte aside ( for which he and RTE should apologise for) the hypocrisy is shamless

Derry's display displays in 2006 was unbelievable, everytime a Tyrone player touched the ball in any area of the pitch he was dragged down, Joe had no problem with it back then, hi-5ing the Derry players with glee as they left the pitch

Yeah...see I love this Tyrone nonsense.....LOOK AT OTHER TEAMS.....

Tyrone are cynical all the time. Its part of what they do...they set up to drag guys down out the pitch. Its pre-meditated.

There are cynical fouls in every game...drags pushes and handbags.

But Tyrone go out with dragging down guys as part of what they do. Horrible disgusting tactics. Ill keep supporting our football team and the Tyrone fans can keep pretending they are playing football and will see no evil and hear no evil.

TWICE in the first 5 mins of the second half Cavan players in scoring positions were cynically dragged down by Kerry players. Will we now see the same campaign against Kerry from the usual suspects. No we won't; Tyrone suit the baddie role for these people who have an agenda outside football. They are partitionist, revisionist, xenophobic and bigoted and they fool no one. Enda McGinley kept his composure on the BBC but you could see he was fuming at the nasty campaign against Tyrone and Northern football while Jarlath Burns wasn't too impressed either. McGinley pointed out incidents in other games which were ignored; it's more than hypocrisy.

JayP........

You are just confirming my point yes the Meath lad was being pulled off the ball etc etc, but again this isn't the players fault it is the officials fault for not notifying the ref. Some people in my county were blaming Joe Sheridan for his infamous "goal" against us but in reality the ref and umpires were to blame.

Oh an just so everyone knows if Gooch is through on goal in the last few mins against Dublin he'll be whipped down. GAME PLAN OR NOT!!!!

You see Jay P that just isnt true and you obviously haven't been watching the games in entirety.
Tyrone were fouled consistently by Meath last week for the entire match, Meath committed at least twice as many cynical fouls as Tyrone. Same yesterday!
You guys need to take of your blinkers, stop hearing what you want to hear and actually analyse the match yourselves honestly, before coming on here and backing up a disgraceful personal attack on an amateur player.

Crowley stopped a goal chance for Cavan at the end with a foul arms around the man to stop him. But not to worry RTE said that was not cynical.

Look at the end of the day what Joe said wasn't wrong! If you focus totally on what he said he's right - did Sean carry out a rugby tackle? Yes. Was it a disgrace? Yes. Have Tyrone created an euphemism for cheating? Yes. It's a shame because Tyrone are a very good team but their wee sly tactics take away from that. If Tyrone played purely by football (and don't say that doesn't happen because when has anyone ever complained about previous winners?? The Corks? Kerrys? it's always Tyrone!) they would be a far more respected team! Would they still win? I don't know, no one does but the way it stands at the minute it appears that Tyrone cannot win the 'proper way' and without getting abuse about ugly tactics which is a shame for both Tyrone and the GAA
