Dublinlass, Jim knows exactly what he is doing. Donegal cannot afford an Ulster Final style start against Mayo and McGuinness is pulling out all the stops to make sure it doesn't happen. If that involves putting some pressure on them then that is what he will do. At this stage it is all or nothing, there is no back door & no point waking up on Monday morning wondering if he could have doe something a bit extra. As for popularity, he couldn't care less about that. There is a job to be done & he will do whatever he feels is neccesary to do it. If they win he looks like a genius, if not...........

Its a pity that this match is attracting attention for all the wrong reasons the managememt team with donegal have no class whatsoever ! And thats unfortunate because the donegal players seem to be a likeable bunch of lads and unfortunately i think most neutrals want to see mayo win ! If this is a physchological ploy by the donegal "management" well its goin drastically wrong for them ! Not quite "the messiah" it seems !

Which I feel was his greatest asset, and the greatest asset of this team. Almost an other worldly aura about him, but it's gone now as he's shown he can be as easily annoyed by anyone. Whether a ploy or not, I think he's putting his aura at stake. It's possibly already gone with a few questionable decisions in the Monaghan game, proving he can make mistakes, something a lot of us thought was below him too!

TBH MuckrossHead I was shouting for Donegal last year but all this stuff is very childhish. I'm sure all the other teams involved have the passion and desire to win the All Ireland Final this year without all this crazy carry on and if Donegal need this kind of thing to fire them up to retain Sam Magauire then I don't think they deserve to be All Ireland Campions again....
Dublinlass, welcome to HS!!!
As to Donegal "deserving" to be AI Champions, that's not how it works. The AI Champions are those who reach out & take it, deserving or not. 02/08/2013 13:26:01
Thanks Muckross Head. Maybe I chose the wrong word. I have to agree with you that any team who wins the All Ireland deserves to be AI Champions and I by no means mean any disrespect to any players on any teams but I feel that their management team are doing them no favours with these comments and creating more pressure by putting the spotlight on them.. I also think that these lads will come out fighting for their place in the semi finals and don't need all this negative publicity that Jim and Rory are creating and its unfair to suggest that they need to be fired up as some posters suggest. BTW Hope you all have a safe journey down.. _______
Either way... Donegal cant be ALL Ireland champions again this year...
They lost Ulster.
The only teams that can be Champions of ALL are Monaghan, Mayo, Kerry and Dublin

Ah now Jimbo, don't be like that!! If we emerge victorious in the third week in Sept we won't give a rat's ass about details like that!!!!

jimbodub your theory is flawed. Whaever about saying that its a flawed all ireland as they have been beat but to say because they didnt win ulster that they arent all Ireland winner is incorrect. Does that mean becuase kerry didnt win ulster that they can be All Ireland Champions?
I feel that the All Ireland Champions are the last team standing in the All Ireland Competition. Its gonna be hard for donegal to get beyond Sunday never mind an All Ireland but I wouldnt regard them as not being ALL IRELAND CHAMPIONS

You'll be 3/4 All Ireland champions
The term ALL Ireland champion should be reserved for a team that goes unbeaten
The back door has seriously devauled the great Irish sporting title of "All Ireland Champion"
Similar in rugby... certain titles are kept for those teams who have gone unbeaten
Grand Slam Champions and so on... yet they are still capable of winning "The Championship" when beaten
Same thing should apply in the GAA...

Rubbish! I live in Kerry, and believe me, if they win the All-Ireland they don't care if they win Munster or not. And rightly so.

How can you be champions of ALL of Ireland when you're not even champions of your own province??
The back door has seriously devalued that once great title...
You can be 3/4 AI Champions this year... you were outright and deserved winners last year with an impecable record in the Championship.
You're still capable of winning the championship but no way will you be Champions of ALL... sure Monaghan are the champions of Ulster

Lads... in order to be Champions of ALL as the title suggests..
You need to eb that very thing.. how can you be Champions of ALL when you havent even won your own province?
Dublin were capable of winning the Championship in 2010... but after getting humiliated by Meath in Leinster
I wouldnt have the neck to pretend to be All Ireland Champions in 2010 after such a defeat... despite lifting Sam the Meath lads would still have the bragging rights...
The once great title of All Ireland Champion means so much less then it used to do...
It should be preserved for a team that goes unbeaten.

Absolute hogwash. The competition is the All-Ireland Championship, if you win it you are All-Ireland Champions.
Spain were beaten by Switzerland in the last World Cup, does that mean they are not World Champions?

But say hypothetically we did win the All-Ireland. If Monaghan were better than us then why didn't they win it?

Oh... I remember when that title had true meaning... seemingly thats lost on some.
