Joe Brolly walking a tightrope?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I've never come across such blind hatred by a tv analyst in my life.

I like a tv analyst to be honest and fair in his assessment I can't stand fence sitters but Brolly can't control his natural prejudice which at times borders on hatred, whatever you think of Tyrone this guy should be pulled up, nothing Tyrone did all night was any good, it was the refs fault or Meath for allowing them to.

Sickening listening to him and I once had time for this guy not anymore, if you can't control your own prejudices he's no place on any tv panel, full stop!.

Oh and admin it was on live tv before you pull my post, just play the replay, you'll probably read about it in the papers,

I cant stand him either but cynical play NEEDS to be highlighted, and the criminals named and shamed.
As I said in another thread though, Tyrone aren't the only perpetrators.
I dread to think what hell say about Jim Mcguinness whenever Donegal fall from grace. .

And when they showed the replay for the Meath penalty it was quite clear it was outside the square but Brolly said I would've given a penalty out of sheer malice.

How can you get away with such blatant prejudice?

I assume he was being ironic when he said that "they hate Ulster teams down here" after the way he was going on himself about Tyrone?

Aye, Brolly was paticularly petulant and nasty tonight - also he's so rude interrupting McStay and even Michael Lyster almost every time!

I noticed that too banner, but not the first time I noticed that, always interrupting never letting fellow analysts finish.

He was so irritating tonight, McStay couldn't get 2 words in before Brolly was poking his nose in. I don't think he could have made his hatred for Tyrone any more obvious if he tried.

Here Here and although I would agree with alot of what he said regarding the team he definetly went too far and what's more was completely off the mark regarding the sanctimonious comment.
Whats more regarding the cynical fouling it happens time and again with every team in the country.

Joe is obiviously a good fella and very intelligent but he is prone to a bout of verbal diarrhoea.

He knows far more about football (and most other things) than any poster on here.

Hope that helps.

Be nice if he tried to show it instead of picking up on the same things time and time again though.

Have to agree with joe folks Tyrone think they can get away with everything Never saw players going to ground so easy. "Big Sean" for example diving about the place like a champion swimmer As for the fouling in last 10 all I can say what do we expect its tyrone we are talking about Am sure they not looking forward to black card !!

Listen as a Tyrone man you have to take him with a pinch of salt. His opinions when he concentrates on the game are good and well informed but he does appear to be going out of his way to be different. Over the past three years he has angered Kerry, Cork, Mayo and Armagh supporters. I think he has gone past the stage when he gets any reaction from Tyrone supporters only laughter.

Have to say, I love Joe Brolly. Didn't see what he said last night, I'll see later on as I recorded last nights game.

Didn't see the game so can't comment on the accuracy of Brolly's comments.
He has however backed up what he said on Twitter & in one respect it is good to have an analyst who is not afraid to call it as he sees it.
On the other hand his habit of interrupting all & sundry is annoying in the extreme & negates a lot of the good work he does. A pity because I really like him, he is opinionated, articulate & fearless, if only he could just rein himself in a bit.

See how long Alan Shearer would last on match of the day if he spouted such prejudicial comments about Manchester Utd?.

Its all well and good saying what you think but in Brollys case last night he commentated on what he wanted to happen rather than what was actually happening on the field of play, I saw very little cynicism from Tyrone last night as if all the other teams have halo's?.

Like Kilkenny hurlers only Kilkenny foul the rest of the teams are saintly angels in comparison.

Although i respect Brolly as a person and he is a character that like's to stir things up.I have really gone off him.It seems he is more in Love with Donegal than his on County' which i find a bit cringe worthy. A bit of banter is all well and good but the interupting just for the sake of it is getting tiresome

Maybe joes worried about falling ratings, he'll soon get bored and move on to his next project', either way his comments will be like water off a ducks back.

Didn't see his comments last night as I was travelling back from Carrick but Brolly is easily the best analyst on RTE.

Apart from himself and Whelan it's poor stuff.
