Donegal v Mayo

Lifford Gael....I was in the lower Cusack and heard the easy chants but thankfully they only lasted a minute or so. I must have been not far away from you. I was totally embarrassed by hearing that. I remember us being laughed out of Croke park too many times so those fans should know better. Every county has their clowns sadly.

Lifford Gael I was at the receiving end of a few Donegal comments last year but it's no excuse it shouldn't happen. Donegal were the best team by a mile last year but their legs just seem to have gone. Missed a few important players and too many others not up to their best. I'm sure ye'll be back next year. As for Mayo great performance but its a 1/4 final so will count for nothing if we don't follow it up with Sam so no getting ahead of our selves

Lifford Gael, very surprised to read your comments as from my experience Mayo folk and indeed Donegal people are very similar and as a whole very good natured people.

I think comments from McGuinness and in particular comments attributed to Rory Gallagher about alleged collusion with Monaghan etc and the attempt at mind games from the Donegal camp irked a minority of Mayo fans who may have displayed their ire vocally.

Commiserations by the way but I'm sure Donegal will be back when the squad has a little more depth.

That's what you get when you get a Kerry man coaching Mayo, in all serious, Mayo were class yesterday, they were like Kerry v Dublin in 09. Those were the days.

Well done to Mayo. They delivered big time today. I hope they can put 2 more performances like that together now to go on and win Sam. Donegal look tired and didn't have the same hunger and intensity as Mayo. Injuries were accumulating all year to key players for Donegal who don't have the strength and depth in the squad however this doesn't take away from Mayo's performance. You can only beat what's in front of you.
I was surprised by some Mayo fans after the game. You would have thought they had just won the All Ireland final. No medals were given out yesterday. Tyrone, Dublin or Kerry will be big tests for them however I predict a Dublin/Mayo final

I was very proud of our lads today, we put the all ireland champions to the sword.
Did anyone else think that joe mc quillans performance was brutal. He gave Mayo nothing, if we tackled a donegal man, he gave a free. But we still won.

Bring on Tyrone.

Hon Mayo...

In fairness Lifford every county has them supporters. I for one wouldn't blame them. It's hard to stop the euphoria when your team are playing so well. It's was the Kerry fans who were jumping up and down and punching the air that I feel sorry for.!!!

What a display of football from Mayo, best I've seen since Kerry destroyed Dublin in 2009. We've no chance v Dublin so hopefully Mayo will go all the way this year.

I was surprised too at the level of kerry joy in mayo's win, or was it donegals's defeat that delighted them so much?

Lifford, I was in the centre of the lower cusack and heard some of that stuff as well. As other posters have said, it didnt seem to me like it came from genuine supporters but a group quite small in number. I dont think genuine mayo supporters who have sat through some of the heartache and beatings they have taken down the years would ever engage in that. I was surprised how few Donegal supporters waited on until the end, I know it must have been hard to take but the team has been fantastic over the last three years.

Congratulations Mayo, proving that when the Donegal "system" fails they don't have the calibre of player to step up to the mark.

They were delighted that the team with the better skilled players won the game, its understandable, every county wants the best teams (and players) in the last four. Any team with any serious ambition have Donegals measure now anyway.

Some feeling getting up this morning. It was a pleasure to be in Croke Park today but that game is history now and we have to concentrate on Tyrone in 3 weeks time. No medals handed out for winning a quarter final. MAIGHEO ABU

Expected that yesterday so wasn't shocked. Strangely non plussed about it.

Mayo need to forget about that game right now. Means absolutely nothing, huge semi in 3 weeks and that's the new focus for Horan. Mickey Harte will have sleepless nights though for sure.

Just win the fecking thing this year will yas!

Everyone wants the Champs beaten, it's natural, we endure it more often than any other county so just suck it up.

I think we'll need to arm Sean Cavanagh with more fire power maybe a couple of grappling hooks if we're to have any chance on the 25th .
