Mayo much the better team today but not cynical? Don't make me laugh. Pulling and dragging off the ball, pulling players back, tactical fouling, dangerous hits. It's all there. I'm not saying we didnt do the same ourselves but to call Donegal the cynical team here is just insane

Got relegated, lost a final and were humiliated in a quarter final,and twice failed to answer a question that remained even after their all Ireland last year i.e. could they overcome a deficit in a game?

Very gracious comments from Jim McGuinness in defeat great to see Mayo at last looking like they are playing with a real purpose and no hype. Undoubtedly the best Championship in years with two great semis coming up can wait. The drive and purpose of Mayo the total football of Dublin the new Kerry and the defensive guile of Tyrone. All 4 have potential to take Sam. I thought Dublin were home and hosed but after today I don't know.

I'd say most teams would struggle to overhaul a 20 point gap to be fair.

As far as the come from behind in general they did it against Tyrone in 2011.

I would just like to say commiserations to Donegal, ye were great champions but ye have been somewhat off the pace this year. I sincerely hope our most recent spat is a once off and we can continue our pre game socialising in Drumcondra in the best of spirits.

One more nail is all we need in this park d bus ulster football ,i pray mayo and d dubs football will b copied though its alot harder to do than just bring everyone behind the ball and pull them to d ground ,fair play to both mayo and dublin it takes brave men to play that brand of football a few more games like that and they will have to build on to croker to hould d crowds ,as a meath man its hard to watch d dubs winning and playing so well ,but this type of football is great for d game and thats more important than this win at all cost football that some bad teams are playing ,now where can i get a mayo passport they er my new best friends

Good luck to Mayo, they played the best football ever this afternoon, and obviously worked all winter on their game. Of course there was cynical fouling at stages of the game, but as someone else pointed out, no team has the monopoly on this art in the current game.
Very many Donegal supporters stayed until full time which was good to see, as the lads despite being totally out of their depth today, have put in enormous effort and owe us fans naught.
Where we go from here now is uncharted. Change maybe, but the championship is all about the 4 teams that are left in it and not about ourselves.

Mayo were brilliant today and well done to them. In an earlier post I questioned their physical and mental toughness; well I got my answer in bucketloads today. While Mayo have always had talent they never had the killer instinct to put teams away; now they have. They have bulked up and believed in themselves and look the real deal now. Furthermore they have the hunger and that is extremely important at this level. Donegal had it last year, Dublin the year before, Tyrone in 2008 and that is 80% of a win. Donegal came from nowehere 2 years ago to win SAM; who would have ever given them a prayer 3/4 years ago? They are a county that lost players to emigration, like Mayo, and still put a team out to win SAM and some of the crap they have taken has been an utter disgrace and those revelling in their defeat today are pathetic. Dublin have been on the end of these beatings, especially from Tyrone, but I don't think their fans have ever really rubbed it in to teams when they have handed out drubbings. I can't see Tyrone holding back this Mayo tide, they don't have the squad, but Mickey Harte has surprised people before and who knows but Mayo look unstoppable. Well done to the genuine Mayo fans like Master and MayoTyrone who you can have a bit of debate with.

Incredible display by Mayo it will be a travesty if Mayo do not win an All Ireland within next couple of years. Will it be this year?. Very hard to say, Yesterday I was convinced no one would match Dublin but now I'm not so sure. At the moment Dublin & Mayo are looking like the potential finalists but anyone who writes off Kerry & Tyrone do so at your own peril. Must say I'm enjoying watching Gaelic Football again and looking forward to two cracking semis.

We have seen similar scenes before, Mayo put in huge performance in Quarter or Semi final only to get hammered in the Final when all the insecurities return. Donegal were awful today.Its one of those rare days when the wheels justcome off. Reminded me of the kerry V meath semi final in 2001

As a Galwayman who lived in Mayo for many years and watched their heartbreak, I genuinely hope that they have the strength to finally get to Sam. The last game I went to in Ireland was the AI Final in 1989, Mayo v Meath as I've been in England since then.

Donegal have been wildly overrated. They are a very good team, and deserved their All-Ireland, but they are not a great team. They have some great players, but no bench. They could very well show character and come back and prove people like me wrong, but they have their work cut out.

Mayo had a fantastic win and fully deserve their success - but Donegal were all-Ireland Champions - and good winners too - the Meath and Carlow posters get a life , some of the games they played in last 2 year were fantastic
