Donegal v Mayo

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

It is a bit of a stretch to say it was a deliberate punch in the face... The ball came in between them, if murphy's hand had hit him in the face would it be a punch also?

This on the other hand is far more clean cut...

You should have seen them in the semifinal against us. Unbelieveable stuff. They rugby tackled our runners and finished the game with 8 players who didn't start. Blood substitutions without there actually been any blood. You couldn't make it up.

Addressed in detail over on the dublin page. Still awaiting your response on it.

@master are you blind or deluded Vaughan never even attempted to go near the ball.

Just goes to show what TheMaster will defend when it comes to his own. Vaughan not even looking at the ball and punches Murphy giving him a bloody nose.

On the Thompson one, sure he shouldn't have his hand near the Mayo mans face but eye gouging? The Mayo man isn't hurt afterwards as you can see at the end of the video. I'd imagine having your eye gouged would be something the Mayo player would have complained about

Before last year's final it was the novel pairing and we were all great friends but now look at us... even Cunningham writes in the Star today about it. There's a fierce rivalry now that was never there before, all over how the final went and what has been said since. Clondalkin is right, we should be enjoying the build-up and atmosphere on Sunday.

He couldnt see the ball, but could see murphy, so instead tried to upend murphy's hands. If he want ed to punch him in the face, why didnt he just take a swing a do so? What you are saying is a bit far fetched.

Now, how about thompson gouging mcloughlin's eye? Looking straight at him and the ball on the deck. Explanation?

Benjy, this so called Gouging" by Thompson is a particular hobby horse of Master's. It's a deep dark world in there & I wouldn't get involved in it.

benjy he puts his finger straight into his eye. It is very obvious, far more obvious than what you are claiming with vaughan, who could well have been going to block murphy getting the ball and made a hash of it. You have to be fair here. You lads are claiming it was a clear punch in the face. To be honest it isnt worth arguing with you, since you have already jumped to your own conclusion it indicates that this is what you want it to be, when in reality it could have been quite innocent. Can I claim mchugh tried to take gollogly out of the game in the same fashion. It is one of several possibilities, therefore I will select it and dismiss all more likely ones - seems to be the done thing around here.
As for not being hurt, murphy fairly jumped up afterwards, at least mcloughlin didnt pretend to be hurt. Finally, so because he didnt complain about it, it didnt happen... Who do you think you are fooling?

to paraphrase the immortal words of benjyyy
Just goes to show what MuckrossHead will defend when it comes to his own. Thompson looking directly at mcloughlins eye and sticking his finger into it with the ball nowhere near that area.

Deep dark world indeed. Defending an accidental slap in the face is one thing, defending someone gouging a guy in the eye when he is on the ground is quite another

There was no injury, there was no complaint from th player, there was no complaint from Mayo management, the Mayo player received no attention & played on.
If it walks like a duck, looks like a duck & sounds like a duck, then the chances are it's a duck.

An accidental slap in the face. It was a closed fist punch on the nose.

So if murphy hadnt gone down pretending to be hurt only to jump up agains seconds later, it wouldnt have been a punch in the face?
Walks like a duck etc etc

He met him in the air, there is no way you can claim it was a deliberate punch in the face. People punch the ball all the time. Also, at no point in that video do we see murphy with a bloody nose.

Anyway, you never commented on the thompson eye-gouge...

Vaughan had his back to the ball when you go for a high ball you normally look where the ball is going you go up for it with to hand not a closed fist and aim at murphys face it was an act of thuggery. The eye gouging incident which is not clear from your link but Thompson was wrong to put his hand in the players face. It was a deliberate punch in the face with a closed fist which drew blood from murphys nose.
