Thats his attempt to draw in a load of Dub posters to comment... thus drawing away the focus from the hottest thread in town

The Mayo v Donegal thread

Mind games fellow Dubs... be warned... ;)

No its actually because I confused this for the 'say the opposite of the truth' thread when I was reading through it.

Slightly worrying to see how much you think about this stuff jimbo, judging me by your own standards maybe?

That is lovely jimbo... Anyway...

Will the suspect dublin fb line be blitzed by potentially one of the best ff lines in the game? ROC has been shakey, adn who better to shake him up even more than ciaran sheehan? Add in kerrigan/hurley/o'connor and goulding and they could do damage in there. I would like to see cork do themselves justice in this game. Such a talented bunch of footballers.

Both teams are equally talented imo .. this could go down to a kick of a ball literally.

Lads,

Doesn't matter who wins - Cavan will beat either of you in the semi.

I think it will be a high scoring game...our defence a little shaky but scoring big up the other end too and Cork... well are Cork with some lf the best footballers around but Galway exposed some weaknesses too last Saturday. For me a high scoring game with Dublin to shade it by a point or two.

You might be right lads. Dublin are just too cynical a team and defensive in nature to go any further this year. Could they put any more men behind the ball?

We are just trying to emulate Mayo. Cynicism looks as if has spread form the county team its main supporter.

I just want to apologise in advance to all Cork, Tyrone and Monaghan supporters that are sitting beside me on Saturday for my drunken behaviour , I'm sorry lads but what do Croke Park expect when they put our game on at 7 o clock?

Maybe they would expect you to go to the other all ireland quarter final!? Ya know, the one that is on in the same field, directly before yours?

TheMaster....

Another Quality set of postings there.... hmmmmmmm.....

Do I watch football....nah.....sure I only keep the GAA going by attending GAA matches in both codes all over the country...all year long. Was in Thurles Sunday getting educated at the stickball myself by King Cats and Rebels alike. And watching boisterous Banner Men and Maroon muck!

Sarcasm dear Master...sarcasm.

If Cork kick into gear Dublin could be in trouble. Lots of youngfella's there....Cooper struggling in the fullback line and Cian O'Sullivan is not a midfielder. Cork midfield could clean Dublin out. Mayo, have a similar midfield...giant men who pluck balls out of the sky at alarming regularity.

And as for hammerings of league semi finalists....sure isn't the league a nothing competition? Like look at Kerry....almost relegated yet probably gonna nestle in a semi-final spot without much hullabelloo....

Mayo are probably favourites for all Ireland glory. They hammered a Galway side that should have accounted for the Rebels last weekend...And have a weakened Donegal in their sights ready for the taking.

You are trying your best to deflect attention.....but that Mayo team have options off the bench too. Very cynical play last summer but if they learned anything from that Dublin semi last year.....it is to finish a team off and not lie on the ground time wasting. They could have battered Dublin in that second half. So...a year on they are looking solid and at a semi final place at least. Try discount that and we will all think you are a waffling.

Split Mayo in two I say!!!!

This game is made for a team like Cork. Sorry Dublin fans but Jim Gavin is playing such an open game that the better teams will punish you. The space in front of the full back line is just perfect for the likes of Sheehan, Kerrigan, O'Neill and Walsh to go marauding into with severe threat. Ger Brennan isn't up to playing that type of game, McCaffrey and McCarthy are great going forward but will leave tons of space in behind. Midfield is the biggest worry, the better teams have the Cluxton kick out game worked out, Dublin will struggle to win their own kick out let alone compete against Corks. Dublin will get space and scores themselves but Dublin are playing a team with the same level of fitness and physicality (if not more) as they have. Unlike Meath, Cork won't get tired, they have strong and fast players to bring off the bench so the introduction of Kevin McMennamon won't make the same impact as it has in previous games.
If Dublin were to win they would need to take a bit of a defensive minded approach first, not Pat Gilroy standard but something in between. Cian O'Sullivan was so impressive in the full back line in 2011, the guy is not a midfielder, he's such a naturally gifted defender it's actually shocking to see him being badly used and played out of position. For me, this is the guy that should be starting in there either alongside O'Carroll or playing in front of the full back line as a sweeper. Kevin Nolan is the perfect player to do a man marking job on a player like Paul Kerrigan. Nolan has a good footballing brain, he doesn't have the same pace as Kerrigan but he'll know how to mark him. McCaffrey, although hugely impressive so far this year, is a risk considering his inexperience and naivety. That Dublin defence is there to be got at and I'd worry for them if they found themselves behind with 10 minutes to go and they even try to push further forward.
My guess is that Gavin is going to hope that Cork start slowly or go off the pace as they have done in previous matches and Dublin try to hit them with early scores. A few early goals would put them in the driving seat, their confidence would flow and their marquee forwards, Brogan and Mannion could have a field day.
But I'm predicting a Cork win here, I don't think this Cork team are good enough to win the All Ireland but I do think they have a lot of experience and a lot of players that could mentally defeat Dublin when the game is there to be won

Nothing to be sorry about , you make a lot of valid points. Not one Dublin poster would be surprised if Cork won.

This could be the game of the bunch neither teams have really hit the ground running yet. Think Cork could have the power to pull through this one by a point or 2. But who know Dublin could come out on fire! Best of luck to both teams :)

i would be surprised.
cork have not done much all year apart from a second half showing against kerry they were very poor against galway and lucky to scrape through galway lead that game for most of the match.
the form graphs have been going in rapidly differant directions this year but its a one off game and cork have got some very good players no doubt about that but on form this year you would have to say if dublin perform to what they are capabale of then i would expect us to win

Hill teams raise there game up massively when they play Dublin , I'm sure Cork were up for Galway but probably thought they'd win handy enough and complacency set in but that won't happen Saturday Cork will be up for this in front of a full house trust me.
