Land of Hope and Dreams

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Back at work today for a while. Last week I was at three Springsteen concerts in Limerick / Cork / Belfast - to any posters from these cities - what great cities and people, very welcoming - I will be back.

It was difficult to keep tabs on all the goings on last week but I was delighted for Galway and Monaghan and of course my own team Mayo who won as excepted and will need to improve for the tougher games that lie ahead. Springsteen has a song "Land of Hope and Dreams" which was played each night and had me thinking of my own team and posters on this site. The verse goes:

Well, this train carries saints and sinners
This train carries losers and winners
This train carries whores and gamblers
This train carries lost souls

Those of us left of the train to September are still dreaming and are among the losers and winners...half the fun is the journey there, enjoy the trip and no matter who wins or looses we are forever on that same train.

Sure was Dubsfan28 and yes master I was at all three. Big fan, Ive seen him all over the world. One thing with a concert is everybody goes home happy which makes a change from following my county.

And yes in Belfast up on the big screen flashed a guy with a "Mayo for Sam" sign.

Was at the one in Belfast Yew. The man is a machine. I think there are a few of the boys in our county team who could do with getting on what ever training programme he is doing. Great shape for a man of 63 and some moving out of him

I definitely think so. They have the best team and best manager never mind their hunger for SAM. We'll be seeing 13 MO SAM car registration signs all over the place this next year.

AthCliath, you are only mad that he didnt put a concert on inside the pale...

Also, saying 'there is a world out there' about someone doing the same thing 3 times in one week is hardly a good fit...

All the punters in the bars on the Lisburn Road in Belfast and surrounding area could hear the concert clear as day.

The Boss never does the same show twice....2/thirds of the setlist is different each night. He would but some of the younger so called music stars to shame with his energy. If the All Ireland was a concert...Bruce would take the 5 in a row.

Stmunnsriver - Good on ya - See ya in Kilkenny. The getting out of Cork as a bit of a disaster - ONE gate open for over 40,000 punters pouring out. In the end they opened a second as it was clear a crush was going to happen. I know now why Hurling fans don't like that stadium. Still they are getting a new one arent they soon.

Was at the Belfast gig. The guy is incredible. Where has this Mayo for Sam nonsense come from? There's been Mayo 4 Sam signs everywhere... except Mayo, where there's hardly a stitch of Green and Red and the football people are cautiously hopeful but fearful they're being set up for another fall and suspicious at how easy winning Connacht has become.
