Bit of a scuffle on the sideline between the two managers.
anyone know what happened?

Looks like Gallagher centrally involved which is hardly surprising. He covers more ground than most players and talk to the referee more than the wired up officials.

6 point win for Donegal in the end, close game for the most part though. Very good win all things considered.

Well done to all the team on becoming only the third team ever to beat the dreaded "six day turnaround". Back to Croker next week and we wont fear any of the three we can meet. I think Donegal will relish being underdogs against one of this years provincial champs! We are not dead yet.

The first 20 minutes were nervous for both sides, however I felt from very early on that Donegal looked to be much better than Laois. Donegal's slick movement from last year seemed to be finally back, their passing was far better and their tackling was very effective. Most importantly their movement off the ball was excellent, something that was clearly missing against Monaghan.

Laois were set up in a strong blanket defensive manner, similar to Monaghan's set up last week. While it was effective for long period's, Donegal controlled most of the possession and were contantly probing. Ryan McHugh was phenomenal, and looks like a major find for Donegal. He never stopped all day, and seemed to pop up everywhere. He didnt play a defensive sweeper role like his older brother normally would, Instead playing a more advanced sweeper role in midfield/half forward. This meant Donegal dominated midfield and the game.

I felt the score didn't reflect the true grip Donegal had on this game, especially against a very solid, sharp and well drilled Laois side. Donegal should have had at least another 3-5 points, as they were so lively and looked really hungry again. This was the first game I actually seen them play like they did last season. Donegal are finally coming back to full strength for the first time since they won Sam. If they overcome Mayo, they will be hard to stop.

Question now is will they all be at full fitness for the massive Mayo challenge next Sunday? If they Improve on this performance slightly, they will give Mayo a serious rattle.

I wouldn't be as optimistic.

It was certainly an improvement on last week but with a few minutes left there was only 2 points in it.

Laois took some very poor options when they got into the final third and overall weren't great.

They only brought a handful of fans so even their own supporters had little hope.

I've no doubt the players will give it their all but we need a major improvement to challenge Mayo.

Jim Mcguinness On about third man tackles etc....Ha ha what McGee did to Munnelly off the ball in Carrick was nothing short of a disgrace ...The umpires must of been asleep as for the Linesman on the Stand side....Christ it was terrible to look at and has turned me off donegal for ever when Laois got it back to 2 points they showed their true colours....Horrible horrible off the ball tactics...No wonder the laois men didn't want to swap some Jerseys at the end....

I think if Laois had the 6 they were missing 3 of them were the spine of the team and over 6-3 they would be looking at playing Mayo sunday...

Fair play to donegal last year for winning the All-ireland and their supporters are terrific but the tactics they resorted to in the second half on Sat would really make you want them to be beaten the next day....
