Donegal v Laois

It is hard to get yourself up for a game in less than a week but the gulf in class should be enough to see Donegal through by 5/6 points, having said that never a better time for Laois to play them

Laois know this Donegal team as well as anybody. Worth remembering that both sides emerged from Division 2 in 2011 together, and Laois beat Donegal in Division 1 last season in Letterkenny.

I do think Donegal are now stronger, but after last weekend's performance the Donegal men have a lot to prove. Laois will put it to them.

Its hard to know what way this will go. I hope they come out and play to their maximum as that is all that we can ask for. Whatever the result after that I will have no problems whatsoever with it.

The lads are hurting and hopefully they can funnell all of the dissapointment and hurt of last Sunday into a big performance. Traveling down to Carrick with a nervous confidence as its do or die now. Its now we need the leaders of the team to stand tall and fight to the death and who knows what might happen!

I think some critics have been unfair to Donegal, and not fully acknowledged the Injury issues they have had all winter. They have missed not having Christy Toye on the bench this season too, as he was a great man last season for coming on to steady the ship.

I wasn't too impressed with Leo McLoone or Ryan Bradley this season, and Ross Wherity isn't suited to certain games. Ryan McHugh, Martin O'Reilly, David Walsh, Declan Walsh and Martin McElhinney are all very capable men.

Ryan McHugh, Martin O'Reilly, David Walsh, Declan Walsh and Martin McElhinney are all very capable men, and O'Reilly was unlucky to be taken off the last day. Maybe Jim should have started a few of them ahead of Bradley and McLoone, as they weren't at the races again.

Frank McGlynn and Neil Gallagher were 2 excellent performers the last day.

If Donegal win this there won't be much in it. Going to back Laois +3. Laois have a chance of winning this though. Donegal players are way off the pace imo. Once you get to the ball in front of any of the 6 backs they will be beaten in one on one situations. Physically turning into a team of pure bulk like the old Armagh team did. Croke park may just suit Laois!

Maybe, so but everyone and anyone in the Media has them down to beat Laois, nobody is giving Laois a chance. And the very fact that you have pointed out that Donegal have serious injury issues is exactly why I think Laois have every chance to take DOnegal in a close game. McHugh is a massive loss to them, nearly worth two players also it must of been one hell of a virus to sideline Christy Toye like that, speedy recovery to him.

Regardless, I can't wait for the weekend. Tony Boyle said in the Indo that Mayo, Dublin and Kerry would fear getting Donegal. If they come through I'd love to get Donegal. Dublin won't be fearing them and thats no disrespect to Doneagl or Tony Boyle. If you are going to try and win teh AI you have to beat the best regardless of what stage it is.

Heres to a great weekend of Football and good luck to all.

We've plenty of experience having done so in 02,04,06. Not Ideal but have to get on with it.

boyles have laois at 10/1 to be leading at halftime n win the match.
I reckon if laois are going to win it would have to be by getting an early lead so 10/1 looks like a very decent bit of value to me.

I don't think Tony Boyle understands the Kerry psyche.

Having read the article Lockjaw im not sure I would classify it in the same way as yourself.
it reads like the transcribing of a phonecall (which it probably is but still its up to the I T to put a bit of structure on the musings of celebrity pundits)
not really sure from a technical point what he is getting at, more of a chat over pints style of argument.

Or indeed the Dublin psyche. I reckon Kerry owe them big time.

Lockjaw, I would say he is right. Now there are bound to be nerves after producing such a non-event of a performance, and if they had drawn the likes of meath donegal might have more reason to worry. Laois will not be good enough to take advantage though.

No way would Kerry fear us. Or the rest for that matter.

But I honestly believe that Kerry are the weakest of the provincial winners

At this stage, I don't think any team would fear meeting another. Dublin may want to be avoided alright by some of the backdoor teams but that's about the height of it. Kerry are probably the weakest of the Provincial winners alright.

A Kerry team that nobody hypes about is a dangerous Kerry team!

If we get by on Sat, I would prefer Dublin.

Frank McGlynn and Neil Gallagher were 2 excellent performers the last day.

Did you really think McGlynn was excellent the last day? I thought he was turned a few times and looked very slow. Was good going forward but not his usual defensively by any means

I wouldnt even look beyond laois.

2 things that I have learned in the past week alone

1 that you cant train for the end of the year when there are games to be played in the hear and now
2 that every team you meet has to be viewed as a team capable of beating you no mater how weak they are perceived to be, I am not sure that complacency can be overcome once the ball is thrown in on the day.
