Donegal v Laois

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

With the way the game has gone in the last few years, It's actually hard to call this one. Momentum v Deflation.

It will be another slugfest, I expect another game similar to today. McNulty will make Laois play the exact game Monaghan played today I suspect, so this will be a big test for Donegal especially with the 6 day turnaround. I still think Donegal will still come through though.

I'll be honest, didn't expect us to be playing next week, but now that we are, so be it. I cant see the forwards being as bad again this year, and that will be the difference. Laois are a decent team, but I think McGuinness will use the disappointment of today to drive the team on to the quarters. Donegal by 4

Neither did the Donegal players. The 6 day turnaround could be too much for Donegal after today's major disappointment. I would not be surprised to see Donegal exit the championship next weekend.

Very difficult, we haven't been in this position under Jim so it'll be interesting to see how they react. None of our leaders stood up today, apart from Gallagher when he came on and young Ryan McHugh had a good game. Papa in goal was great as ever but there's not much he can influence from his position.

McFadden missed a couple of frees early on and it seemed to get to him. I dunno if his marker was in his ear or what but he seemed rattled. Murphy was anonymous. Kavanagh had the most touches of the ball out of the whole Donegal team and used it very, very poorly. Very disappointing performance, they need to lift themselves big time and go out and prove a point next week.

Laois will not beat Donegal unless half the Donegal team get the equivalent of the Blue Flu or whatever. They were lucky to beat Wexford and they won't experience that kind of luck. Also Michael Murphy or Mcfadden won't have as bad a day again.

I thought the 6 day turnaround for provincial finalists had been done away with for this year but maybe I'm dreaming.

Donegal should win but who's to say? Today showed once again the difficulty of getting up to the same intensity for game after game two or three years in a row but at least Donegal have a 2nd chance. After two flat performances they need a pick me up.

Laois started the championship disastrously but have started to rebuild. Winning in Wexford is a good result. This one could go to the wire.

The Laois game will be a real test of JMcG as a manager. Things can go wrong for any team as they did for Donegal today but if JMcG is the manager I hope & believe he is then he will have them ready.

Will the match be in Breffni or Navan? I think that it is a neutral venue, and these 2 seem to be the obvious choices.

I didnt think we would b in this situation 2bhonest, but now that we are, I think we should get behind the lads, it must be nigh impossible to keep this effort up year after year.

Roscommon could be another option

why should it be in a Neutral venue ? Laois should stick to their guns and play it O'Moore park Donegal wans always looking for an edge all the crying they did about Ballybuffet and home advantage ........

Go back to sleep 45. All of the qualifiers at this stage are held in neutral venues.

Interesting stat: Donegal's defenders in League and Championship 2012 had scored 2-16 at this stage. In 2013 in League and Championship they have scored 0-2.

All round 4 qualifiers are neutral venues. You should know Tyrone are back door specialists.

fortyfive; All round 4 qualifier games are at neutral venues ya slabber! Do you want them to change that rule for Donegal? Longford, Rosscommon or Cavan would be the obvious choices for me.

Donegal should beat Laois relatively easily. However they should of beaten Monaghan relatively easily.

Another performance like they put in yesterday will see Laois beat them. Don't expect Donegal to be quite so poor again.

I don't get the whole thing about impossible to keep this effort year after year sure they only won two ulster titles in the last 16 years you would swear the team are a decade on the road.
If anything Monaghan proved the theory that Donegal have to be in front in matches fie their gameplan to work as they had no plan b yesterday just like in 2011 against Dublin when they went behind.

MesAmis,

I dont think that we should have beaten any ulster team easily. It is a demolishion derby in the ulster championship, and teams that excel one week can be dumped out the following
Carrick on Shannon was a rumor last night for the replay..
