Ringo, I dont know when you lsat went to a Camogie match but it has changed dramatically in the past 5 - 10 years. The skill level, fitness and competitive nature of the games is at a very high level. The age profile of the players has dropped a lot and I would say that camogie and ladies football are two of the fast growing sports in Irleand right now, though I will say that the fallout at U 16 / 18 is high, just like hurling and football. I go to a lot of Camogie matches and find them very entertaining. Clubgaa (Limerick) - Posts: 879 - 19/07/2013 14:12:43 1435954 Link 0 |
Well said clubgaa. And it is not the GAA equivalent of beach volleyball. Sport is place where girls can get away from all the crap thrown at them about their body image by the media. Last thing they need is for it to be introduced into camogie. Anyway, Katrina is already a role model for her brilliant play on the field. She is not page 3 girl. hurlingdub (Dublin) - Posts: 6978 - 19/07/2013 14:27:00 1435966 Link 0 |

We're going in circles here. I'm not going to change my opinion that camogie isn't appealing to me to watch, others here seem to have links to the sport and contend that it is great to watch. ringo (Wexford) - Posts: 384 - 19/07/2013 15:36:06 1436031 Link 0 |
Think a lot of people are missing the point here no body is saying she should take her clothes off to promote the game. Nick (Wexford) - Posts: 1100 - 19/07/2013 16:07:31 1436057 Link 0 |
RTE covers some of the camógie championship (the final & scant highlights of 1 match per week) but I believe ladies football has benefitted way more through TG4's thorough coverage. Is fearr liom Ursula Jacob ná Cora Staunton gach lá! keeper7 (Longford) - Posts: 4088 - 19/07/2013 16:13:38 1436060 Link 0 |

Nick, the Rose of Tralee is not a beauty contest as evident by previous winners. It's a talent competition, hence why Irish dancing, bad comedy, singing and other forms of entertainment will be viewed.Think Lovely Girls in Fr.Ted and multiple it by a thousand times worse. boots96 (Meath) - Posts: 95 - 19/07/2013 16:26:01 1436071 Link 0 |
Haha. What a load of nonsense. If the same thing had come from a man's mouth it would (rightly) be lambasted as patronising sexism. A lot more can be done to promote camogie than simply promoting a player who happens to be good looking. Gabriel. (Down) - Posts: 412 - 19/07/2013 16:28:51 1436076 Link 0 |

More nauseating self righteous commentary on here sometimes than you would hear at a 'Pussy Riot' event. The mother can say her daughter is good looking if she wants.I don't think too many of yez were being 'outraged' when David Beckham or whoever else were making millions posing in underwear. seanie_boy (Tyrone) - Posts: 4235 - 19/07/2013 19:13:44 1436171 Link 0 |
I think that its clear favouritism from the GAA towards Dublin to allow Katrina only wear those "short shorts" in Croke Park. JayP (Dublin) - Posts: 1772 - 19/07/2013 19:23:00 1436172 Link 0 |
