Cluxton frees

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Non issue in my view. Cluxton is also the master of the quick kick out which balances things.
In the head yesterday I'm sure some of the players were glad of a break.
Compared to the length of time a penalty takes in rugby or a direct free takes in soccer, Cluxton is greased lightning!!

Most of the time was taken up by the mill caused by the Meath player screaming obscenities into Cluxton's face and trying to trip him up! My problem with Cluxton is bringing him up to take frees from 25/30 metres. Any forward should be capable of those sort of attempts.

____________

Yeah, Especially when you think of the amount of players we have at our disposal and not one has the confidence to kick a free from 25/30 mtrs at times.

Fair play HurlingDub - nail and head.
Understandable that goalie's are taking the 45's, but it's dreadful that anything inside 45m is taken by anyone but a forward.
In fairness a good chunk of club forward lines would be decent freetakers from <40m with a bit of practice, never mind the cream of the crop. Very disappointing to see frees that require accuracy only outsourced to the goalkeeper

Really like Newman's old school style of kicking and the fact the he was kicking from the right-hand side as well as the left - reminds me of the golden 80s/ 90s era of placekicking

this is a pointless argument. if a team fouls then the other team deserves a chance to punish them to the full of their capabilities. if this means someone coming up the pitch and using time them so be it, more punishment for the foul.
field sports have a huge amount of time with the ball out of play it part and parcel, players would drop if the ball was in play for 70 mins anyway

That piece is spot on - all frees take time and so the introduction of a clock as in the ladies game is needed.

The biggest issue i have is the fact that being no better than decent at kicking frees somehow makes you the best keeper in the country - see this week's team of the week AGAIN!

Lazy media analysis have clouded the judgement of pretty much every non-educated follower of the game!

I'm afraid you have an agenda against Cluxton cavanman47.

Nice to see that is sorted, instead of compaining about timing now we can just admire some of his kicks. The 6 against Cokr were brilliant, he took one near the sideline that was in particular exceptional.
