How does a team beat Dublin?

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Superblue, this thread is genuine in terms of the question being asked , these threads don't have a bearing on hype in comparison to newspapers/Facebook or twitter. I doubt players look at HS. Dublin do have the best pick of forwards. Our full forward line is excellent also provided Murphy plays in there and not centre back.
Joxer, that's a fair assessment , do you feel your backs are your weak area . Wonder would Gavin be as attacking if he were to play one of Kerry/Cork/Donegal/Mayo etc ?

IMO Gavin will stick to his gameplan and let everybody else do their own thing. A fascinating few matches to look forward to!

1422920 Another question arises for Dublin, if they are to win this year how would they like to win?

Would they like to utterly dominate their opponents in a final say and beat them out the gate by a cricket score or would it be more enjoyable a tight contest that they come out 4 or 5 point winners of?

Any win will do for me anyway,1 pt 5pts no differance .A win is a win.

Win possession at mid field. Mark their forwards effectively. Hit them of the ball. Hit them fairly as well. Don't commit too many players to attack. Don't turnover the ball. Don't have Joe McNally, I mean McQuillan as ref.

Yes totally agree. Don't have mcquillen as ref especially in a semi final against mayo and especially after their manager is playing cute Kerry hoorism with the media. As for hitting them of the ball, deos that not come under cynical fouling? btw a skill mayo is very underrated at.

Get your corner back to go down injured in every break of play as well, it is a big bonus when the referee forgets this and only adds 2 or 3 mins on at the end but this is out of your hands.

I'm not bitter, Mayo deserved the win, but as long as you keep bringing up Joe McQuillan I will answer it by bringing up that set of 'injuries' :)

Ye were like a lame horse hobbling towards the line still that was your big day in the day sun Congrats.

You need to watch the game again, David Clarke made a great save, yes but Mayo had two clear cut goal chances previous to that to put the game beyond reach. Kevin Mglouglin was the difference, when he went off temp , we lost our key man and plan in the game , we lost our way but we fully deserved to win the game, we were a better side than Dublin last year, sin e.

The greatest come back of the modern era took place in the 2006 championship and victory sealed with a glorious point from one of the best players of the modern era. Thats what you call a COMEBACK!!!!!!!!

This year it will be a very tough task to beat Dublin.

Any team doing so would need to play to their own strengths, make a very good start to silence the Hill, and have all their players on top form.

Its a tough ask though.

1422792 In fairness the Dubs are the team to beat.... Sure didn't Michael Murphy himself say so!

"WHO??? "

Ah SuperBlueDub, you know Murphy, ya do surely.... Big imposing lad, man of the match AI final 2012..

No?

Remember.... ah you must, he was the fella that did what the Dubs failed to Mayo last year (score a goal)

The net-buster less than two and a half minutes into the final?

Described as one of the best goals ever scored in an AI final?

Ah you know Murphy!
