Dublin won THREE All-Irelands. To call three of these teams GREAT is laughable. The Dublin team of the 70s deserve great credit but I won't consider them GREAT!
Are you for real? That Dublin team got to 6 all ireland finals in a row, winning 3 of them, They most definately were a great team.

"Kerry had to deal with great teams from Cork, Dublin, Roscommon and Offaly, all of which would have easily won All-Irelands in any era."
This is the cute kerry hoor coming out in you I'm afraid. Between 1975 and 1986 Cork won ZERO All-Irelands, Roscommon won ZERO All-Irelands, Offaly won ONE and Dublin won THREE All-Irelands. To call three of these teams GREAT is laughable. The Dublin team of the 70s deserve great credit but I won't consider them GREAT!
I know you point to the years 1975-1986 and I will come back to them. Just for the record Cork won an All-Ireland in 1973, a Munster in 1974 and then unfortunately we came up against a great Dublin side. For the years that you mention (1975-1986), in that period to give you an indication of where Cork were at, we won 5 All Ireland under 21 championships, 2 All Minor championships and 5 All-Ireland club championships. Players like Jimmy Barry-Murphy, Sean Murphy, Billy Morgan, Ray Cummins, Dinny Allen were as good as any players in their era. Unfortunately, at that time Kerry had Mike Sheey, Egan, Ogie, Paidi, Spillane, Power, O'Keeffe et al and we did not win much at senior level. Also when we got to play Dublin we lost on both occasions (74 and 83-after a replay following a late late Barney Rock goal). Though we won nothing, we had a great side. It is a testimony to Kerry and Dublin greatness that we won nothing (still the haul that I did mention is impressive enough you'll agree).

In fairness, it must be in decline if teams of the stature of Donegal are favourites to win All Ireland's.

Indeed that is a magnificent haul of success from various Cork teams in that era, but I am referring solely to Senior Inter-County Football. Nobody would argue either with the quality of Billy Morgan, Dinny Allen, JBM etc., but Cute_Kerry_Hoor mentioned "GREAT TEAMS" so I was replying to his post.
As for Superbluedub, Dublin of the 70s were a really really good team, I would just fall short of calling them GREAT, sorry, that's just my opinion.

Well you're entitled to your opinion Salmaneile but all those sides would have almost certainly won more All-Irelands only for the Great Kerry Team of that time.

And you are entitled to your opinion,But in my humble opinion you are oh so very very wrong,That Dublin team from the 70s was without question a great team,Only bettered by the best team ever kerry 1975-1986.

Cork had a very poor senior side by their standards between 1975 and 1982. It was also a period when the seeded draw knocked the ambition out of the other Munster counties where hurling-dominated county boards agreed to having their senior football teams out of the championship by the first Sunday in May in case they got in the way of the county senior hirling team and their own senior hurling championship. Even Cork weren't too concerned about their footballers either and, of the great players you listed above, Jimmy Barry-Murphy and Ray Cummins gave up football to concentrate on hurling, Dinny Allen turned to soccer and Sean Murphy never developed into the footballer he might have been.
In fact, Munster wasn't the only province with a one-horse race as Dublin won six Leinster championships in a row, most of them without ever getting out of second gear, and no Ulster or Connacht team beat a side from Munster or Leinster between 1973 and 1991. There might have been one or two Kerry v Dublin classics dring the so-called Golden Age but, in terms of competitiveness, nearly every other game during that period was a predictable yawn.

The point was on repetitive cynical fouls, something donegal engaged in throughout the final. The thing is I have accepted that foul was a daft tackle and deserved a yellow, yet you avoid the subject of donegal's cynical team-fouling throughout the game. I have never denied that Donegal foul cynically Master. My point is that every team does it yours included. It's just that we wre a lot better at it than Mayo were, story of the game really. Just like you refuse to comment on the eye-gouging we have seen donegal engage in this year. Hard to comment on something that was of no consequence Master. Was the Mayo player injured? No. Did he play on? Yes. Was there any complaint from Mayo? No. Does any other poster here mention it? No. Once again Master you are ploughing a lone furrow in your very own altered reality. In reality, why should anyone engage with you on the troubles of their own county or any other county, when you actively avoid commenting on those of your own? No problem at all commenting on the problems in Donegal. Its just that as All Ireland Champions we don't have that many. Your own county are now widely regarded as the most cynical team in the country. Master a wee secret. They are all at it, yourselves included. Donegal may well be better at it than Mayo but clumsiness is no defence. Any team that isn't cynical will win nothing. Sad but true.

Do you feel Galway players are genetically better that Donegal players in terms of stature?
As the current All Ireland champions, I can basically see how they would be among the favourites. But it's the "stature" word that sticks out in your comment. Please elaborate?

Gary, You are dealing with a man who has a bit of a blind spot about Donegal. Either Daniel O'Donnell told him to f**k off one night when he asked him to sing Galway Bay or a fine looking Donegal man took a woman off him. Either way there are enough chips on ashure's shoulders to tar roads with.

Au contraire beal au contraire, I did wonder at the use of the word prose but decided to wallow in "classy" & "outstanding" instead. Part & parcel of being a Donegal man, positivity oozing from every classy & outstanding pore.
