joncarter they should play all ulster all ireland quarter finals there. Sell out once a year or not if it's the brits money paying for it then it's worth it. The Ulster championship does need a top class stadium. Munster have a few big ones and Leinster have Croker so why not Ulster?

Is this fully funded by the British Govt? Or do the GAA have to ante up some money?

Sadly, other than Ulster Championship Finals do not see it been filled!

Also like Clones, quirky but with atmosphere inside and around the town. Yes a b@#$%H to get in and out of but still...

looks impressive & proper facilities are important but dunno if it needs to hold 45,000? Will be sold out at most once a year and won't get any neutral games for All Ireland series because of its location.

I think the GAA should be focusing on upgrading stadiums alright but no more than a few need to hold more than 15,000 to 20,000.

Can't wait for the new Casement Park. It has my full backing. It will bring the Ulster Championship finals into the 21st century. Clones is ancient and although provides a great match day atmosphere the stadium itself just isn't up to scratch anymore.

It looks deadly in fairness. Looking forward to seeing it built and it will be fitting venue for Ulster semi-finals and finals which is needed in the province as Clones is an awful place for big games imo.

This stadium will be a disaster, already the vultures living nearby are trying to get some free money. You can't help some people especially in belfast.

I dunno I'm skeptical. Even though I live in Belfast I'm not sure about the location.Something a bit more central would surely be fairer and provide a more useful neutral ground.

But its done now so hopefully its a pleasant surprise

Great looking stadium, but is it needed? how much would it cost, and who would use it?

Use Clones as an example. capacity 35000, central location. it is full to capacity once a year. Casement is not even a central location for Ulster.

Lovely looking stadium, but total waste of money imo.

I read somewhere that the are spending approx £70M of which Her Majesty's Treasury are providing £56M and the GAA are contributing £14M. With that sort of spend I'm sure you could built a fine stadium anywhere in Ulster but they would want to get the parking right as nearly every game over 12,000 is delayed because of traffic congestion. Safety of your car would also be another cause for concern as it has always been a joyrider hot spot.

just another white elephant 14 million would be better spent trying to imporove hurling in ulster rather than on a bigger stadium in belfast

Lovely looking stadium. I think it is an absolute waste of money. May an all seater 20,000 stadium by all means. If each county had one of those and if we had a few stadia dotted around the country that hold 30,000+ (and Croke Park for the truly massive games) we are doing fine. When the Ulster finals were a huge draw in the mid noughties-the games were switched to Croke Park. I can't speak for indvidual fans but the coaches and players seemed to love it. Clones has been adequate (and barely full) since. Attendance at Gaelic games spiraled with the Celtic Tiger (like everything else in this country) and now we are back to 'normal' attendance. Tyrone and Donegal had 18,000, Clare and Waterford had 12,000..these are big opening games...why build 45,000 stadiums? Are they planning to let people in for free? The Grab All Association...I doubt it...

altough it looks a top class stadium the access in and out of it at the moment is very poor.i cant see the british govt spending to much on the surrounding infrastructure. The magic of Ulster final day in Clones will be sadly missed as the atmosphere around and in the ground is the best in Ireland on provencial final day.The ulster final in Clones is a day out and is attended by alot of neutrals ,that wont happen in Casement.
