I think Ulster deserves such a stadium...

Will look forward to big away games up North... we bags the end behind the goal!

Agreed looks like a fantastic venue, can't wait to see it in person when completed, in terms of layout and facilities for spectators and players & officials it could very well be second to to Croker, now lets see what the Pairc Ui Chaoimh plan is like

Foolish move. The Gaa cant fill the stadia they have, yet here they are building a big, new one.One white elephant after another. All the same, itll improve our chances of hosting the rugby world cup so its not all bad.

Casement Park?

Snuff started a very interesting thread relating to cross community involvement in the GAA up north

Just on something Bad Monkey mentioned withing that thread which I think was a solid point

Would it be a good time to change the name of the stadium?

I'd rather see it knocked down than see that.

We can change it to Sir Roger Casement park if that makes some people feel good about themselves and their "cross community"!

Fair enough Tom1916 but I was only half joking. Gaa stadia are too big as it is, and there are more than enough of them, so it is very possible that this new stadium will benefit Irish rugby more than it will the Gaa.

Perhaps then Windsor Park could be renamed...?

They can name it after John Paul II Jimbo, I'd still give it a wide berth.

Completely disagree. Ulster needs 1 top class stadium. More people will go to Ulster semi's and finals if they have a stadium like this. It's been paid for by the British and not the GAA so what's to lose. The only downside is the republic will get less business from fewer games in Clones. This will help promote GAA in the real capital of Ireland. I'd argue a 45,000 all seater would have been better or making one end a terrace to boost the capacity further plus providing cheaper standing tickets like Hill 16.

Ulster doesn't NEED one top class stadium. It WANTS one. If its the British who are paying for it then fair enough, but itll still be a waste of money. If it sells out more than once a year ill be (very pleasantly) surprised.

I propose we call it Clones - that way it might please the detractors or merchants of doom who have confined this to the tip before its even started and just confuse those of little wit.
