I am just curious to what people think of Limerick Hurling, looking for an perspective from people of the other 31 counties basically, and be honest even if its harsh.

Always had great time for the Limerick hurlers but seems internal politics always seems to stuff them up. I fancy them to do well this year and i've a sneaky feeling they could run Tipp very close and maybe snatch a win on Sunday.

Lots of potential but are always 'building' a new team. Never seem to really push on from there. Hope they do Sunday though.

They're a few years in the 2nd tier in the league now and in my opinion won't push on until they get back up to the top tier.

A restructuring of the league may well benefit them and could happen particularily as the wrong county was relegated from the top division this year.

Always thought Limerick were the next hurling county after the big 3. Think over the last 10 years with the sucess of Munster rugby it lost a lot of people to rugby. Was at the game v KK last year & a few passionate lads still there but not many. Are the clubs paying big money for high profile former inter county players to manage them now? Whatever happened to the 3 in a row U 21 teams???

They're spending too long down in 1b, they really needed to get promoted this year (although the fact that they finished top of 1b and didn't get promoted is ridiculous, but thats another discussion). That said, Limerick are a championship side. They failed to get out of 1b last year as well, but come championship, they should have beaten us (although we were a shambles last year), and later ran Kilkenny close. John Allen seems to have them going down a defensive route going by Sundays team, I'm not sure if that'll yield any dividends. It might stop you getting beat by much, but I'm not sure if it will win you many games

Whats worrying is the way the U21's got beaten the last day out. Its not as though they have bad players, that was supposed to be a decent u21 team. If the attitude is bad at underage, its not going to get any better if those players make it at senior.

If there were 2 teams I'd like to see doing well in the hurling again, it'd be Limerick and Wexford. Back in hurling's salad days in the mid-90's, the crowds these counties brought to matches was unreal, and hurling was generally better for these teams being present on the big day. So I hope both can get back on top sometime soon

Guilty of continuously shooting themselves in the foot. The talent is there to be a top 3 or 4 team.

suffered from in house trouble and bennis would be first to tell the porblems that existed and he tryed to change that.
then the strike caused a real setback for a few years.but they have built at underage and over next five years will probably be back to where they were.have great manager has to be said who knows the game inside out.politics as with the club scene is their biggest problem but be interesting to see how close they get to tipp.certainly dont think they would fear playing cork clare or waterford so bit unlucky with draw.

Continuous heartbreak. Thank god I play rugby and can support both sports and have some success. The club scene in Limerick is not strong enough at senior level compared to other hurling counties. Heres hopin for a great victory sunday

Along with Wexford and Offaly from the 1990's they appear to be slipping off the national stage and it means the All-Ireland / Provincial championships are not half as competitive or interesting to watch.

would have preferred to beat any of offaly/kilkenny/clare/cork/tipp in 1996 after what happened them in 94.i will never forget the limerick supporters around us that day as we took off for the pitch.my heart went out to them.2 all-irelands in 3 years must be so hard to take.
but they never built on 3 U-21 titles in a row,and that is where the book stops.was completely mismanaged.seems as though there is always players quitting the panel,indiscipline,changing managers,etc.

just short of winning games when it matters/there for the taken. ie league finals, Tipp in last year's Munster championship, waterford the year before and against KK in Thurles last year but allowed them to step it up 1st and they bagged the goals.

TBH if i wasnt from tipp i'd put a few quid on them on sunday. If they can make the most of Tipps weaker areas then they have a great chance. Should be a cracking game...don't expect there to be much in it

On Championship Matters the other night, John Tennyson tipped Limerick to beat Tipp. Said he saw them play Kilkenny in a challenge & was very impressed.

Same as ourselves. Hanging on the edge of the top tier, capable of taking down maybe one of the top 4/5 in championship but not good enough to go all the way.
