But Joxer both teams went man for man? That's the tactic we both used and it was a shoot out that we won convincingly , what your saying is that if they went more defensive it wouldn't have been as bad a beating ? Well they went defensive in the league and it was the same result give or take. For me they are way behind us and 16 points flattered them in the end cause it should have been 30.

Clondalkindub what exactly do you want ? We could embalm the whole Kildare team and management and send the jars on to you if you want.

+1
I have great admiration for this Dublin team. However its posters like the above makes me want to see them beaten.

Ulsterman County: Antrim RTE commentators were whipping themselves into a frenzy over Dublin at the weekend; it was like that radio character on Savage Eye with all the clamps and horns. "Ahhhh Jeeeezzzzz........". It was funny but pathetic at the same time. The Southern media have found themselves a darling outfit and a great white hope to take on and beat those pesky Nordie/Ulster savages.
Ah come on now Ulsterman, Dublin's awesomeness can not be questioned! ;)

1421870 ------ That's what I'm saying Clondalkin, they went man to man which was suicide. They successfully used a blanket in Parnell Park earlier in the year and in Newbridge, to an extent, last year. The league table doesn't lie. They are a dangerous team but still think they just got the tactics wrong.
Sure I am suggesting that they should have gone defensive. The way to play Dublin is to lock up shop and hound our forwards. What's the proof this year? Kildare in the OBC finial (Kildare win), Tyrone in the league (Tyrone win), Tyrone in the league final (Tyrone let it slip), Donegal in Ballybofey (we scrape a draw).
Dublin are well beatable but if a team tries to outgun us in a man to man shoot out then we will win all day long.
Man for man we are not 16 points better than this Kildare team. They got their tactics completely wrong.

---------- The most excited of all was Martin Carney. I actually thought he was an Ulster man, Donegal I thought. Sad to see a Nordie savage turn on his own kind like that.

A week and half late to the party here but anyhoo, that was one hell of a team performance from Dublin.
I'm sure if you're not on the receiving end of things it's an absolute joy to watch.
The one thing that stood out, as it did in the previous game against Westmeath was the intensity they brought to the table, subs included, right up until the final whistle. The lack of a challenge in Leinster has probably hindered them in previous years but like Mayo in Connacht they're relentless going forward this year, it's a bit like when Homer got a job as a Krusty lookalike and he's beating the hell out of the guy dressed as the Krusty Burglar while a kid cries "stop, stop, he's already dead".
Mannion must be a good shout for Young Player of the Year. Obviously a lot of talk before this season was about Kilkenny but Mannion, and McCaffrey too seem to putting in better performances. Or maybe it's just down to Kilkenny being played in the half forward line as opposed to corner forward where he'd probably score more and get more of the headlines.
O'Gara looks to have developed into a more mature player, not as raw as before and used the ball very well. McMenamin is a gift to have on the bench too, almost impossible to stop when he starts running from deep, especially when he has four or five other lads running in support beside him.
People talking about them maybe becoming complacent considering how easy they tend to find things in Leinster are only kidding themselves. With the strength in depth in that panel, the quality they have in every position is probably as high as it has ever been for them. When players with senior and underage All Irelands, provincial club titles and Sigerson titles are sitting on the bench, as a starter you know full well there is absolutely no room from complacency. Cluxton, O'Carroll, McAuley and Brogan aside there's probably nobody guaranteed a start.
Bar an ambush on the scale of Ia Drang or Trebia it's hard to see past a Dublin - Donegal / Mayo final, which is probably the best any neutral could hope for really.
The worrying thing from a Kildare point of view is that we effectively turned this into a shootout, which is something very few people would have given us a hope of winning beforehand.
Understandable that we took this approach though considering how going defensive backfired on us in the league (especially playing into the wind in the second half and chasing the game). It was a bold move by management and it didn't work out, hopefully they'll have learnt something from it and try to change things. We've a good record in the qualifiers over the last few years, if we can get by Louth and avoid Tyrone then there's no reason why that can't continue.
