Dublin v Kildare

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Dubs stuff us again. Gaelic Football is changing fast and like the premiership the best teams like Dubs Donegal etc are pulling further away and it's hard to see where the rest are heading. We
are certainly in a transition period but that doesn't excuse that terrible performance. Management got their tactics all wrong once again. Jason Ryan made no difference. Even with a tactical system we would have been well beaten. The heads dropped after Dubs second goal. Our defence was porous. Midfield should have started same as last day. No sign of settled team. Emmet Bolton totally out of sorts. I still support this team regardless. Going to take time. Change of management too.

Just a small point on consistency of referees. In the All Ireland Final Joe awarded Dublin a free with 70 seconds left. It took Steven exactly one minute to take the free. Kerry took a quick kick out and had good ball breaking out and Joe blew full time only allowing 8 seconds even though half the added 2 minutes was wasted on one free. Fast forward to yesterday Joe called one minute of added time in the first half but BB's match killing goal was scored 1-15 into this one added minute. Just a small point Joe

Ha if you think Joe the referee loves the Dubs have a look back at the Mayo v Dublin semi last year !!!!

the reason it was 1 minute 15 seconds is becuase dublin had the ball inside kildares 45 yard line bearing down on goal,
you cannot blow half time in that area of pitch,
it happened us last year that a ref blew half time as the ball was on its way over the bar and the ref didnt allow the point to stand and alot of people kicked up about it

I don't think he loves the Dubs, I think the Dublin players are very used of him though and seem to know exactly what they can get away with. Combine that with an entire end of the ground roaring at him in every game and it doesn't hurt your chances.

Funny decision in Armagh yesterday to award a penalty with the ball 40 metres from the goal. New one on me.

Elaborate lads I didn't see the game, how exactly was the peno given?

Hill16number1man. So when is the minute up...time waits on no man. A lot can happen in 15 seconds... ask Usain Bolt... just making a point as the best team obviously won. Joe should have given Kerry another few seconds given the circumstances in 2011. I always wondered what would have happened. When is the Hooter being brought in.?

Seemingly he gave the Peno for holding inside the 13m line even though the ball was nowhere near him and was'nt been played into him.

The Hooter is being brought in next year the sooner the better in my opinion. Doublehop he let Mayo away with blue murder last year in the semi and trust me the Hill was doing plenty of shouting in disbelief towards him it had no affect. People are complementing Dublin's players with regard to their pace but if we face a scenario that Joe McQuillan allowed last summer in the semi final against Mayo where on numerous occasions our players attempted to break with pace and were met with rugby tackles, shirt pulling, third man tackles etc etc we'll be defeated unless the man in the middle does his job. Cynical fouling has to be punished especially repeat offenders all it takes is a yellow card, two of them were dealt out early doors in the All Ireland Final and it stopped the nonsense/gameplan.

Dubs very impressive yesterday but Kildare were woeful. Very hard to say if Dublin are that good but Kildare are a top 6/7 team so the manner of the win is impressive. Stiffer tests lie ahead for the dubs however. We could see Kildare in a quarter final yet but I would not bank on them getting any further than

Kildare are nowhere near as bad as that scoreline suggests. On the one hand you have to admire Geezer's bravery in attempting to go man for man but on the other you have to think why didn't they try to shut us out when they went 1-2 up? Dublin's inside forward line was awful yesterday and again our lightweight backs, Jack and Johnny, were exposed when Kildare ran at us with pace. We've a lot to work on. A more defensive side would not have let a 1-2 lead slip so easily. I also don't understand Kildare's high ball tactic when they were damaging us when they carried the ball. Lot of questions for Geezer and Ryan to answer I would say. Dublin have to improve further at the back especially.

Still think Kildare can do damage in the qualifiers if they can mentally get over that result.

delighted with that win yesterday what a game we never gave them a chance and id say we didnt have to get out of 2nd gear,it was a great all round performance, daly jack mc brennan Flynn brogan Connolly to name a few all stood up and were counted the ball was worked well and spread all over the field great open football great display, and I think there was something like 20 goals too throughout the game that's some tactics too hard look Kildare..

UP THE DUBS..

I'd have to agree with ya Joxer. First 15 minutes KIldare looked like a serious outfit. I touched cloth in the first 5 minutes. Why they can't keep that going to some extent? Regardless, feel bad for their supporters (and its no way in a patronising tone), it wash't so long ago we where getting it in the neck left right and centre under Pillers regime.

How are Kildare not as bad as the 16 point beating they got? We played them in the league and were 16 points up with a minute to go when Bolton got a goal to bring it back to 13 points and last year Cork hammered them in the quarter final so how are they not that bad ? They went man to man and we showed them that they are that bad, Kildare lads I'm not rubbing it in I'm just making a point to people who keep saying your not that bad , just like we were that bad in 08/09 and people kept saying we weren't when we were.

RTE commentators were whipping themselves into a frenzy over Dublin at the weekend; it was like that radio character on Savage Eye with all the clamps and horns. "Ahhhh Jeeeezzzzz........". It was funny but pathetic at the same time. The Southern media have found themselves a darling outfit and a great white hope to take on and beat those pesky Nordie/Ulster savages.

I'm sure it was a welcome respite for them having had to commentate on games in the Ulster championship for the past 3 weeks or so. I'd be joyous too if I got a break from that.

Well for starters they finished 3rd in the league beating top teams along the way and finishing above Mayo, Cork, Kerry and Donegal. So they must have quality. They beat us in the OBC final when they didn't go man to man and picked us off instead. They tried man to man in the league and we gave them a hiding. That's why I was amazed that they tried this again on Sunday. As Mossy Quinn said - tactical suicide. No team should lose a 1-2 to 0 lead as quickly as they did. Pure bad tactics. We were all over the place in the first 10 mins. Cooper, O'Carroll. Kilkenny were all rocked. Had they locked up shop they could have led at the break but instead they tried to continue to attack and we picked them off with lightning counter breaks.

Like I said I think they had the players to run us close but their tactics were shocking.
