Sedico as i posted earlier johnny doyle was a class in your opinion he lasted the pace against offaly ! OFFALY ! No disrespect to the biffos but dublin play the game at a much higher tempo than them ! Im not slagging johnny off just stating facts ! Hes been one of the games best players over the last 15 years or so ! P.s. As much as it pains me to say this im not a young man ! (wish i was)

Good players there doublehop, if they click as a unit they'll be very useful!

I think I'd go with O'Neill (if fit) ahead of Brophy.

Let him drop a bit deeper into the half forward line and push Kelly or Flats up a bit closer to support Smith.

There's the possibility of a curveball being thrown with Hurley starting at full forward like against Tyrone in the league semi too. There's options there anyways, should be good experience for the young lads.

No wouldn't start Johnston. He's been injured, yeah he played well against Cork and in patches against Kerry but apart from that he hasn't really stood out for me. Smith was best player in the county last year and Brophy has had some outstanding games. Would be great to have Kavanagh for a game like this I have to say but what can you do!

Have to comment on Doyle's age. Dublin supporters seem to be obsessed with it. The Dubs around me at the league game were getting great mileage out of it. Calling him a pensioner, saying he was getting special treatment, etc. The thing is if you brought a neutral who knew nothing about the game and asked him to pick out the oldest player on the field would they really pick him out? He puts in serious work, covers more ground than most, still has plenty of pace and despite taking the punishment that a corner forward of his class invariably attracts he still brushes himself off and goes again, not a bother on him. He's never really had big injuries and as Earley said on Off The Ball after retiring wasn't really doing savage training with the way Kildare prepared through the middle part of his career. He's certainly not there to find himself on the end of moves. He can still do the lot and still does.

I wouldn't be critical of Johnny Doyle. I think he has been a great player and i also think he is still Kildare's best player! Thats probably what would worry many a Kildare fan i suppose! And therein lies one of the issues why to date they have yet to take the next step imo! Perhaps they will this year.

Johnston looked like a poor player to me the last couple of times I've seen him, if he's injured like you say I suppose that's fair enough!

Doyle is still top notch and would make the starting lineup for any county, Dublin included. He is still Kildare's main danger man IMO. Parnell Park in the OBC confirmed that. I've seen Seanie three times this year for Kildare and he hasn't impressed me at all other than his first 35 against us in the last league game where he got 1-1 I think. He was awful in the second half.

I've never really rated Seanie Johnson that highly. Johnny Doyle and Niall Kelly look the main threats, O' Flaherty is a very good player as well though. What ever happened to Eamonn Callaghan? I used to rate him but hes fallen under the radar.

I would love to see Niall Kelly vs Jack McCaffrey

Kildare will have to improve the scoring rate if we are to be competitive against Dublin. Too many wides and poor shot selection has been the bane of this Kildare team. The defensive tactics will also play a major role in the outcome. How can Kildare defend against a Dublin team with such an abundance of scoring threats?

Well Dublin are certainly the form team. I wouldn't say that we will definitely be beaten as there is absolutely no evidence to back that up. We've beaten all the big guns so far this year except Donegal who we drew with away in a nothing game for us but a must win for them. So on the evidence to date Dublin are certainly the favourites but, as stated in other threads, any of Kerry. Mayo, Kildare, Tyrone, Donegal could beat them if that team has an on day and the Dubs have an off day.

From what I've seen of Brophy so far he hasn't impressed me at all, I'd have Johnston in there from the start he's guaranteed to kick you a few points in fairness to him.

Eamon Callaghan played against Offaly after a long injury lay off. He's also Captain this year.

Oh thats good to know he is back. I didn't know about the injury or see the Offaly game so I didn't know. Hes a very clever half forward, he can be put to good use in Kildare I reckon if he makes a good recovery.

NEWS JUST IN.....

Dublin to play entire game with 14 men, the thinking behind it is that we start with 15 against Kildare...and they play ok. Then we get a player sent off and then go on to win. So to make it easier we will just line out with 14!!!!

Kildare will be in with a shout in reality, but I think they still lack forwards to win against a Donegal/Mayo/Cork/Kerry/Dublin. Johnny Doyle is class by the way (I mean that). The guys been a warrior for Kildare over the years.

Can't wait for this match now lads, honestly think we can win it if we play our best, and Ollie keeps Brogan in his pocket yet again...The league match was a disaster I know but total wrong tactics and no u21's were our downfall, This match will be different were going to have to keep it tight and take our chances!! My starting team would be 1.Connolly 2.Lyons 3.Foley 4.McGrillen 5.Kelly 6.Leper 7.Bolton 8.Daryl 9.Dan Flynn 10.Cribbo. 11.Kelly 12.Flats/Paudi 13.Smith 14.Brophy 15.Johnny
