Ok thanks. 1 pub so. How is that worse than what was claimed about Drogheda?

1 pub i named but im sure the real rugby pubs like cloughessys and flannerys and the curraghower would do the same if the locke bar is doing it

Agreed Hill16. It's a disgrace that these Irish pubs won't even show our national games live. If they want to show a re run stick it on the TV down the corner if there is another match on live.

Try getting anyone to put the gaa in any pubs Drogheda and see how far you get the would
rather watch div 3 soccer in England than watch gaa

Yep true enough especially Mother Hughs which ironically is owned by a Meath man.

The whole Louth being a soocer county is just not true and it is often used as an excuse to explain why our county team haven't won much in the past. There are two teams in the top division alright but if you watch the attendance at their games you'll see they have very little support. There was 250 at Drogheda utd's last match. If soccer was really big in Louth surely we would have our own league and not play in the Meath and District league. There might be an argument that people are more interested in watching English soccer than Gaelic games this is the same all over Ireland.

eh whats wrong with that are you for real they are after showing that rugby game live its unfair on other people in the pub already to have to watch the whole thing again when they want other live sports shown, why cant they just show the rerun on one tv if its that neccessary why does the rugby have to be shown on all the tvs.
i know in dublin and in kerry i must say and most other counties you will have maybe 3 or 4 tvs showing 3 or 4 differant sports.
to me that pleases everybody and makes sense.

Ive been in the locke regularly after games and if somebody asked that they wanted to watch some game in some sport they would be accommodated but when a majority in the pub want to see the rugby again then that's perfectly fair.

they do show hurling/football live and nothing wrong with what they or any other pub does

I asked to watch the pdc world darts championship and barman went and put it on for me 5 minutes later when the pub had a few rugby guys back from watching the munster match, the manager told the barman to put a rerun of the munster match on instead.
didnt accomadate me and i was already in the pub whilst they had only walked in.
how is it perfectly fair when they have already just literally watched the rugby and its not amajoirty its amanagemtn issue.

choosing a rerun over live sport on all tvs in the pub and putting punters who have just walked into your establishment over somebody who has already been giving you custom you see nothing wrong with that?

As I said if a majority of the customers want to change the bar and bar staff are perfectly entitled to change channel to suit the majority of customers.
There is nothing wrong with that and while it may upset you but the manager clearly felt that there was no issue.
Did you ask the manager to change back to the darts which you had been watching??

The people who walked in could easily be regulars. Many in the pub would more than likely prefer to watch a re run of the rugby than the darts.
hard luck to person for the darts but if they were on their own then tough luvk

June 3rd 1990 - Leinster championship Quarter-final
Louth v Dublin, in Drogheda, attendance was 15,000 apparently.
The dubs won 1-13 to 1-8

so theres nothing wrong with putting off a live sports event that a person who is giving you custom wanted to watch?
if it was another sport instead of rugby i wonder would you be of the same opinion.
i asked the barman what happened why was he turning the darts off and he told me the manager told him to put a rerun of the rugby on again instead.

again if this was the other way around if they were reshowing darts again instead of showing live rugby would you be of the same opinion?
wouldnt like to go to any business you would run if thats you value on peoples custom.
you would rather have somebody who is already giving you custom be put off your pub just because somebody might come in after a match and want something else on?
as a matter of fact nobody was even watching the rerun rugby i looked around and as you would expect they were only in for a drink after the match they couldnt care less what was on the screen.

hill16no1man, you are trying to get sense out of someone who only can see an egg shape ball, and nothing else, and im willing to guess that the only reason he is on a GAA site is because the Rugby equivalent must not be great. Its funny how ormondbannerman never seems to comment on threads which stick to just GAA, but only when they veer off into a conversation about other sports.

Mother Hughes is soccer pub in fairness but ..agreed but why would you put GAA on the telly when almost 90% of your customers are soccer supporters make good business sense to have the soccer now i have no problem with just pointing out what the people are watching soccer is number one in Drogheda.

If that's what you think about me then you are totally wrong. I comment in plenty of threads where rugby never has or will be mentioned.
I am on this site as I like to discuss hurling/football as I am a sports fan and I also am a member of many rugby forums and they are very good(with many features that are much better than this site)
