Are there any updates on Louths move to a new stadium on DKITs grounds.
Whenever I'm in Drogheda I always thought it was mad having Louth GAA and Drogheda United next door to each other and both in small outdated grounds. Surely if the sites were combined a decent multi purpose ground could be constructed.

Pairc Tailteann's former capacity was 26,000, a figure that has now been reduced to 10,500.

The game is on in Drogheda ! New Stadium on the way in 2 years !

It won't be even half full Wexford because it can hold 10'000 easily and has held 15'000- 20'000 in the past but there will only be 4000 at this game.

If the gae is fixed for Drogheda then it should be played in Drogheda especially if Wexford are not bringing any numbers.
Home advantage is always worth a couple of points & the prize is great.

I suppose Drogheda reflects fact that Louth is predominantly soccer county.

Mattock, you chosen to select the older documenting the lower capacity but ignore the report a few months later where the new barriers were installed and the capacity was increased by another 5K again.

So correct you,

Pairc Tailteann's former capacity was 10,500, a figure that has now been increased to 15,500.

Anyone who thinks Louth is predominantly a soccer county clearly have never visited the Louth Centre of Excellence in Darver Co.Louth.

Soccer is big for sure but so is golf, rugby is also played as are many other sports.

The notion that Louth are a soccer county predominantly is most likely based around the fact that the counties two main towns Dundalk and Drogheda play home to a league of Ireland soccer team.

Louth is a soccer county in my opinion.
In Dundalk especially, the soccer clubs outnumber the GAA clubs about 7 or 8 to 1.
Id imagine Drogheda is the same.
Ardee even has 2 soccer clubs both with 3 adult teams compared to 2 mens teams Senior and Junior with St Marys

I'm glad to here that bobkarlgees, clearly shows that the GAA youth are staying away from public houses these days.

Pubs and drink have had a lot to answer for in Louth where the GAA was concerned.

its worse in limerick they choose to show thr rugby on all tellys then once the match is over instead of turning over to a live gaa or other sport match they instead show a full rerun of the match they just had on live

How many times has that happened to you in Limerick hill16 and in how many pubs?

anytime you go to the lock bar this will happen the reason i asked why they do this and was told its for the people who had just seen the match in thomond park to watch it again while they drink in the pub.

Happens in many pubs in many sports.
Whats wrong with that any way. You can get a totally different perspective on a game by watching a game on tv compared to being at the game watching live.
That happens in plenty of pubs - dapp inn in nenagh always does it for big tipp hurling and munster/Ireland rugby games is another pub that shows re runs of games like the locke

Look to bring it to navan would IMO be a bad choice as a double header as wicklow would be given up home advantage and giving it to meath, play both game in port laoise as a double header is the obvious choice

eh whats wrong with that are you for real they are after showing that rugby game live its unfair on other people in the pub already to have to watch the whole thing again when they want other live sports shown, why cant they just show the rerun on one tv if its that neccessary why does the rugby have to be shown on all the tvs.
i know in dublin and in kerry i must say and most other counties you will have maybe 3 or 4 tvs showing 3 or 4 differant sports.
to me that pleases everybody and makes sense.
