Gaelic Grounds Drogheda

With Louth winning they are now home to Wexford in the Leinster 1/4 Final. Will they get home field advantage or will the game be switched to Parnell Park or Navan as Drogheda Park only hold about 5,000. It would be nice to see the game staged in Drogheda. The last big championship game in Drogheda was a qualifier against Tyrone I believe?

I think we play better in Navan.

Wee County - Wee Pitch. Joking, this will be an all ticket affair. Maybe they can increase the capacity to 10,000.

In Drogheda, Louth can beat Wexford, But I think Wexford beat them in the league there this year so they will be no strangers to Drog park.

Drogheda due to health and safety has a restricted attendance of 4,000, alot of people are going to miss out if its played in Drogheda

This is the debate lads. Will more than 4000 Louth fans travel to Navan to watch this or Parnell park?

If the answer is yes than it should be held in one of those. If not than have it in Drogheda. Maybe Louth fans will want this too as they tend to play better in Navan?

strange one here with louths ground only holding 4 thousand and wicklows ground only holding a simliar capacity that would mean both games would be played as all ticket games in frotn of only 4 thousand.
parnell park would be no good either as it only allowed hold 7 thousand now.
navan as a double header would have been a better option for both as it has what a 20 thousand capacity now isnt it?

Capacity shouldn't matter. If Louth get a home draw,it should be in Louth if they want it. Makes no sense if they have to play in Navan or Parnell Park this time and play in Wexford Park next time they draw Wexford.

Didn't Louth host Tyrone at the Gaelic Grounds back in 2008 in the Qualifiers? I don't see why their would be such a big issue about it not taking away the fact that we are in dire need of a modern home ground to facilitate championship fixtures.

Yeah but there where loads of fans who missed that Tyrone game and there was a lot of fighting with officials at the gate. I had to leave the grounds a few minutes before the game to give someone a ticket and there were a lot of angry fans being denied entry to a stadium that was half empty.

Navan's capacity is roughly 15,000 - 18,000 just to clear that up.

if navans capacity is 15-18000 a double header would be the logical answer to the problems,be a full house as meath would bring 10 thousand and the rest made up by the other 3 countys, problem solved i would think?

think wexcore is right, the hurlers are on the night before in the park and i'd say most wexicans will stick to that one.50 would be an optomistic figure...

so it's 3950 for the locals,is that enough?
