are we watching last days of this great group of tyrone players rhudson (Galway) - Posts: 1478 - 27/05/2013 10:55:07 1392232 Link 0 |
It's important the older players hang around to bring some of the younger players through. If Tyrone can go through to the last eight through the back door then that and keeping our division one place will help. However it is clear from the results against Donegal, Dublin and Kerry over the last three years that Tyrone are not able to live at the very highest level. That said I do believe Tyrone have managed to cope better than other All-Ireland winners of the last 15 years such as Meath, Galway and Armagh in trying to keep competitive. Jesus I'm really getting sick of lads writing off teams after one bad day at the office. Tyrone play great against Dublin in Croker everyone saying there all Ireland contenders then they have a bad day against Donegal in Ballybofey (where they won't have to play another game there this year) and now not only are they not all Ireland contenders but there team is finished as well haha. clondalkindub (Dublin) - Posts: 9926 - 27/05/2013 12:44:37 1392377 Link 0 |
Tyrone were at the end of the road a couple of years ago, now they are rebuilding. Everyone went mad about their good league performances but I still reckon they are a year or two away from seriously challenging for an AI, that team definitely has potential though. I for one would not write off this Tyrone team just yet. I have a feeling they will still be around come the August bank holiday weekend. However I will probably incur the wrath of plenty of Tyrone posters for suggesting this but would the team benefit from a change in management. I have the utmost respect for Mickey Harte for all of his acheivements with Tyrone teams down the years and the unbelievable dignity he has shown in the face of terrible personal tragedy. We could all learn a thing or two from this man but from a purely football point of view would they benefit from a fresh perhaps dare I say a younger approach. Maybe Canavan with Mickey in an advisory role? Greenwood (Meath) - Posts: 210 - 27/05/2013 12:58:51 1392408 Link 0 |
Tyrone will b around at the end of the year, all they need is 2 matches back to back, and a big scalp in Omagh such as cork or kerry. It was unfortunate that they had to go down to killarney last year, that was their undoing, and kerry played their final that day. All in all, they could have been 3 or 4 clear of us coming up to the end of the first half. They cleaned up in mid field yesterday, I think they failed to take their chances and this caused them to panic in the last 20. They are as strong and fit as any of the other teams and will do well when they regroup for the qualifiers. Mickey Harte is the man in situ at the moment, he clearly knows what he is doing, and will get the best out of the team in the next few months. The keeper will have to practice his freetaking though Donegalman (None) - Posts: 3854 - 27/05/2013 13:10:19 1392422 Link 0 |

In fairness I think Tyrone were very unlucky yesterday. Had a decent penalty shout turned down. Also Harte missed a good goal chance. Morgan who was normally reliable from frees had an off day. Joe McMahon got a harsh Red. I still think they will be about come August time. gotmilk (Fermanagh) - Posts: 4971 - 27/05/2013 13:19:33 1392438 Link 0 |
No question that Tyrone were well in the match jimbodub (Dublin) - Posts: 20763 - 27/05/2013 13:36:37 1392460 Link 0 |
Def could of been a peno but he made the most of it... jimbodub (Dublin) - Posts: 20763 - 27/05/2013 13:38:00 1392463 Link 0 |
I'd actually be happy enough with Tyrone's performance. A few obvious things to change but if they are changed then we are back in contention... tyroneed (Tyrone) - Posts: 753 - 27/05/2013 13:44:32 1392472 Link 0 |
Gormley was tyrones best player on the day I thought, sean cavanagh has lots of football left in him too. Bosco1937 (Longford) - Posts: 185 - 27/05/2013 13:48:35 1392478 Link 0 |
Tyrone will stroll into the quarter finals in all likelihood. MesAmis (Dublin) - Posts: 13837 - 27/05/2013 13:52:03 1392482 Link 0 |
The game against Donegal was defined by 2 pivotal moments. Murphy's ball into the full forward line for the goal and McBrearty with that scintillating run for goal number 2. At the end of the day those were the 2 events in the game that settled it. Writing Tyrone off completely for the year because they lost by 2 scores to the All Ireland Champions is absolutely illogical and naive. They're been haunted by the ghost of Brian Dooher at the moment but they'll be hard to beat all the same, you can be sure of that! realdub (Dublin) - Posts: 8818 - 27/05/2013 14:24:09 1392534 Link 0 |
Far from near the end if tyrone had took all there chances they would have won donegal didnt miss much as tyrone missedloads morgans frees alone was 5or6 which on another day would go over i think they will be around come august they would love another go at donegal Vman (Mayo) - Posts: 39 - 27/05/2013 14:46:34 1392573 Link 0 |
Think Tyrone are a good team still and will be very hard bet. To play the best team in the country and have that tough physical encounter under their belt will set them up nicely for the qualifiers and I would expect to see them in the quarter finals. I don't think they would have beaten Donegal yesterday even if they did score all those missed chances. Donegal would have responded and still won. Donegal tend to measure up their opponents and just do enough to get by. Jack Daniels (Westmeath) - Posts: 152 - 27/05/2013 15:00:40 1392606 Link 0 |
I don't think there was an Issue with Tyrone's senior players yesterday ( Ok, apart from some minor discipline issue's late on perhaps ), rather a very slight lack of senior experience showed from some of their new players. This takes championship game time, thats the only remedy. GaryMc82 (Derry) - Posts: 3032 - 27/05/2013 15:18:39 1392637 Link 0 |
I would agree with Greenwood I think it is taken offe for a fresh man. Skillful_Bill (Tyrone) - Posts: 102 - 27/05/2013 15:26:35 1392652 Link 0 |
