It's important the older players hang around to bring some of the younger players through. If Tyrone can go through to the last eight through the back door then that and keeping our division one place will help. However it is clear from the results against Donegal, Dublin and Kerry over the last three years that Tyrone are not able to live at the very highest level. That said I do believe Tyrone have managed to cope better than other All-Ireland winners of the last 15 years such as Meath, Galway and Armagh in trying to keep competitive.

Jesus I'm really getting sick of lads writing off teams after one bad day at the office. Tyrone play great against Dublin in Croker everyone saying there all Ireland contenders then they have a bad day against Donegal in Ballybofey (where they won't have to play another game there this year) and now not only are they not all Ireland contenders but there team is finished as well haha.

Tyrone were at the end of the road a couple of years ago, now they are rebuilding. Everyone went mad about their good league performances but I still reckon they are a year or two away from seriously challenging for an AI, that team definitely has potential though.

I for one would not write off this Tyrone team just yet. I have a feeling they will still be around come the August bank holiday weekend. However I will probably incur the wrath of plenty of Tyrone posters for suggesting this but would the team benefit from a change in management. I have the utmost respect for Mickey Harte for all of his acheivements with Tyrone teams down the years and the unbelievable dignity he has shown in the face of terrible personal tragedy. We could all learn a thing or two from this man but from a purely football point of view would they benefit from a fresh perhaps dare I say a younger approach. Maybe Canavan with Mickey in an advisory role?

Tyrone will b around at the end of the year, all they need is 2 matches back to back, and a big scalp in Omagh such as cork or kerry. It was unfortunate that they had to go down to killarney last year, that was their undoing, and kerry played their final that day. All in all, they could have been 3 or 4 clear of us coming up to the end of the first half. They cleaned up in mid field yesterday, I think they failed to take their chances and this caused them to panic in the last 20. They are as strong and fit as any of the other teams and will do well when they regroup for the qualifiers. Mickey Harte is the man in situ at the moment, he clearly knows what he is doing, and will get the best out of the team in the next few months. The keeper will have to practice his freetaking though

In fairness I think Tyrone were very unlucky yesterday. Had a decent penalty shout turned down. Also Harte missed a good goal chance. Morgan who was normally reliable from frees had an off day. Joe McMahon got a harsh Red. I still think they will be about come August time.

No question that Tyrone were well in the match

Just lacking a few players up front...

I'd actually be happy enough with Tyrone's performance. A few obvious things to change but if they are changed then we are back in contention...

Stephen O Neill should play Full Forward only, no matter what else is going on.
Niall Morgan will have better days.
Shouldnt have subbed Mc Aliskey. Yes he had a yellow card but hes not as likely as some to get a second.
Coney has serious potential and we should be getting more out of him.
Joe is best at Centre Half back.
Harte would also be best in defence, he works hard but hes not a natural forward. Infact by far his best campaign for Tyrone was last years league at Half Back.
Should stop wearing the GPS things in big games.

Gormley was tyrones best player on the day I thought, sean cavanagh has lots of football left in him too.

Tyrone will stroll into the quarter finals in all likelihood.

The only team that could possibly beat them will be the loser of Cork v Kerry.

No one else is anywhere near capable of beating Tyrone.

They will still be playing football in August as the qualifiers route is not as perilous as people sometimes like to make out. Both Tyrone and Donegal will be in the 1/4 finals. Yesterday's game was to decide who'd end up there as Ulster Champions and who'd go through the qualifiers.

The game against Donegal was defined by 2 pivotal moments. Murphy's ball into the full forward line for the goal and McBrearty with that scintillating run for goal number 2. At the end of the day those were the 2 events in the game that settled it. Writing Tyrone off completely for the year because they lost by 2 scores to the All Ireland Champions is absolutely illogical and naive.

Donegal are very strong, maybe even more so than last year. I think that bit of individual talent in McBrearty, McFadden and Murphy was the difference as well as Donegal's ruthless defense. I think if these teams meet again especially in Croke Park, not in the cauldron that was Ballybofey, it would be a very different game. Tyrone will build through the qualifiers no doubt.

They're been haunted by the ghost of Brian Dooher at the moment but they'll be hard to beat all the same, you can be sure of that!

Think Tyrone are a good team still and will be very hard bet. To play the best team in the country and have that tough physical encounter under their belt will set them up nicely for the qualifiers and I would expect to see them in the quarter finals. I don't think they would have beaten Donegal yesterday even if they did score all those missed chances. Donegal would have responded and still won. Donegal tend to measure up their opponents and just do enough to get by.

I don't think there was an Issue with Tyrone's senior players yesterday ( Ok, apart from some minor discipline issue's late on perhaps ), rather a very slight lack of senior experience showed from some of their new players. This takes championship game time, thats the only remedy.

Take Donegal's Patrick McBrearty (Aged 19), and he really only came of age yesterday as a big game player. This fella has 1 x All Ireland medal, 2 x Ulster medals and League Division 2 medal already in his pocket, and yesterday made the jump from first team squad player to key senior player.

Tyrone have a whole bunch of players like him, who given time will become the next generation of Dooher's, O'Neill's, Mulligans, McMenamin's, McMahon's etc. Tyrone are a much better side than last year, and I feel they will continue to grow.

Note: As for being unlucky yesterday, I don't think that was the case. Cavanagh's point last night was shown not to be a point on The Sunday game, and their penalty claim was debatable. They were playing a slightly understrength Donegal side, clearly missing some key men.

In saying that, Tyrone showed they are tactically outstanding and will give any top side serious problems. Hopefully they will take the learnings from yesterdays defeat, work on them and go forth. Tyrone have the depth to navigate the qualifiers.

I would agree with Greenwood I think it is taken offe for a fresh man.

Time for mickey to step aside and give peter the chance regardless
Of how 2013 pans out for us.

Yesterday was a repeat of 2011 .A young inexperienced player was
left to continue taking frees long after his confidence was shattered.
It happened in 2011 with peter harte against the same opposition and
was allowed to happen again yesterday. To many mistakes are creeping
in on team selection tactics and changes in games such as :

1. Constant obsession with playing peter harte as a half forward.
2. Selection of colum kavanagh over cassidy at mfield.
3. Peter harte will always start and never taken off regardless.
4. Decision to take mcalisky off yesterday wrong.
5. Dermy carlin to mark mcberaty wrong.
6. Switch o neill to 40 yesterday wrong.
7. Switch sean kav to square yesterday wrong.
8. Leaving fullback line one on one wrong.

Mickey has been getting to many of the big calls
wrong in the past few years and it's time for change.
