And since then Dublin won the league and Mayo narrowly avoided relegation. Besides, you ignored the rest of my point about having to play other teams of real quality. We would have to beat Carlow(Div 4), Dublin(Div 1 Champions), Kildare(Div 1) and the best team from the side of the draw that contains 2 Div 2 teams plus Meath who were promoted. Ye have to play Mayo and a Division 4 team.. I see the similarities alright.

Not missing the point you are the one complaining about provincial structures when the best eight teams more often than not will reach the last eight. As for the league debate Donegal were relegated Tyrone reached the league final.

Tyrone finished 5 places ahead in the league. And it was extremely well publicized Donegal weren't taking it all that seriously. The top 8 teams in the country were in division 1 this year(Maybe you could say Derry are better than Down, Derry won Division 2). That's no coincidence.
Do Leitrim and London just not take the league seriously?

I just hope Square (whatever) that if you lose to Dublin (presumably) you come up against Galway, Sligo or Roscommon, might get more than you bargained for.

Westmeath might be ok now (in the league) but never scared anybody, and never will.

Its a GAA issue as a whole (number of teams in the province) not any individual province's problem.......besides what a lot of people don't seem to fully understand is that provincial championships are technically separate competitions from the All-Ireland Championship.....they are only linked by dictating at which stage you automatically enter the All-Ireland championship.

I don't think Westmeath have ever lost to a Connacht team in the championship. Since 2001 they have played Galway, Mayo and Sligo. They beat them all. Just such injustice the way the Provinces are set up for the football championship imo. Though I don't see major changes in the structure of the championship any time soon.

thread gone way of subject, the unfairness of teh provincial championship has been discussed at length before on other threads.
Great win for Lonodn but Sligo were terrible and are going backwards fast, don't appear to have much coming through underage. Were playing a two man full forward line with the rest of the forwards dragged out, but they never let the ball into them. Calls for Kevin Walshe to become Galway manger gone pretty silent!

Well done London.

Super stuff but a result like this has been coming. Leitrim will not take them likely in just over 3 weeks.

I sincerely hope mayo draw westmeath this year if you make it to the quarters. Although if you do make it, I think the other 6 teams will have that same wish...
