Dublins unfair advantage

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Joxer I think they should only count the Dublin Northside population. Us culchies know right well that them posh southsiders don't like GAA. As ye won the league and the 2011 All Ireland, yerselves and Donegal shouldn't get more tickets than other teams as that would clearly be an advantage to ye. Sure we might as well do it right and get stewards to ask Dubs supporters cheering loudly ito quieten down if ye are ahead in a match. Maybe we could tell Dubs what time to use the toilets too. Them North Koreans would have nothing on this new style GAA fascism!

I'm with ye on that GnR as I'm northside to the core. We all know that Dubs are the soul of Ireland and that northside dubs are the soul of Dublin. Jimmy Rabbit said so! But then what would we do with Clondalkin Dub, Liamo and poor aul Wayno who is stuck in deep culchie territory in the heart of Meath? No I think us Dubs have to stick together and we won't be dictated to by the fascists, from Mayo or anywhere else for that matter.

I just seen this thread and I haven't read ANYTHING anyone else has posted but a shot in the dark.... I'll probably piss off loads but.... Dublin HAVE to play their home games in Croker! simple reason being our sport needs that! REVENUE!

One has to laugh at Masters post. Lets bring a proposal to the GAA that advocates that people should be prevented or discouraged from supporting Dublin. I suppose in the interest of fairness, something apparently close to your heart Master, that you would support culls of all teams that has a superior supporting base than their opponents.

So lets predict Mayo play Leitrim in the Connaught Final. How much should the Mayo attendance be culled in that match considering Mayo would have a potentially huge advantage over their opponents by means of outnumbering them?

I dont think it is an all ireland winning advantage. this has been proven over the last 30 years. 1983, 1995, 2011. Thats an all ireland every 10 years. Compare with kerry (9), Meath (4), Cork and Tyrone (3), Ourselves and Galway (2 each).. If it were an advantage, it would have yielded more than 3 methinks.

It has more to do with ability and fixtures than where you play your game. If you are consistently good enough, you will get good at playing in Croke park and used to it. In fact, it could be a disadvantage playing in Croke park when your fans are suddenly quiet.

Louth are playing Wexford in Drogheda with the ground in Drogheda restricted to something in and around 4000.

There will be some people who wont get to see their county play because of these restrictions, which brings me on to Dublin always playing in Croke Park.

If its money/bums on seats the GAA are after then Louth v Wexford would not be played in Drogheda. Louth want this game in Drogheda as it's a home game for us, but if it was Dublin we were playing it would be in Croke Park and not Drogheda even if we wanted to play them in Drogheda.

The bums on seats/money thing when it involves Dublin is just a smoke screen to cover up the real reason Dublin always get to play teams in Croke Park.

Wexford had home advantage last year against Dublin and chose to play the dubs in Croker
