Spare a thought for the many teams that never/rarely get to play in Croke and would love the opportunity of playing the Dubs there with the great atmosphere that is always present when the Dubs play. lilywhite1 (Kildare) - Posts: 3049 - 23/05/2013 20:24:10 1390089 Link 0 |
If Tyrone played every game in Omagh, they would win Ulster every single year. Sergeant_Slash (Cavan) - Posts: 2182 - 23/05/2013 20:24:23 1390090 Link 0 |

how many times have teams that played against Dublin opted to play in croke prk over the years that tells its own story some have had home advantage and still opted to play in croker... dubbydave. (Dublin) - Posts: 3927 - 23/05/2013 20:57:55 1390121 Link 0 |
Given that Dublin went 16 years from 1995 - 2011 between winning SAM and when they played all their matches in Croker throughout this period is there really an advantage? It seems like a convenient excuse fro some because over that same period Dublin choked at times in front of their own crowd and took some bad beatings when under pressure. It is probably a big advantage when they are winning but equally as big a disadvantage when they are struggling. Tyrone, Kerry, Mayo, Cork players and fans will testify that there is probably nothing better in Gaelic football than beating the Dubs in front of the Hill. Furthermore let's not kid ourselves; they bring in much needed finance for the GAA. Ulsterman (Antrim) - Posts: 9825 - 23/05/2013 21:35:35 1390166 Link 0 |
Moo moo, what Dubs here were complaining about travelling to Ennis last year? Produce the evidence! The only reference I recall was to fact that the match was at 7pm rather than at 5pm. Dublin hurlers have played maybe ten times in Croke Park over the past 5/6 years. hurlingdub (Dublin) - Posts: 6978 - 24/05/2013 08:03:49 1390199 Link 0 |
Lads its not about the all irelands, its about the Leinster titles. Dublin have won 7 out of the last 8 Leinster titles playing against oposition who only see the inside of Croke park once or twice in a year where as they have all their home league games there the last few seasons. The bones of this Westmeath team only got their first game in Croke park a few weeks ago for the league final and it was clear in the first 20 mins that they were overawed by their surroundings. There is a huge difference in playing in little ol Cusack park in front of 1500 people and in front of 40000 + fans in the shadows of the stands of Croke park. IT IS AN ADVANTAGE!
