ye its becoming that way unfortunately , the likes of Clare , Waterford and Limerick who have drifted down to that level need to get their act together big time and take a leaf out of Tipp's book , I'd be fairly confident Tipp will give Kerry a match for a good 50-55 mins tomorrow unlike Limerick today who who couldn't stay competitive for 10 minutes ...pathetic , I really hope Tipp can keep producing these young players , nurture them properly , not lose them to the hurling and integrate them into the team which will lead to Tipp reaching the level of Kerry and Cork eventually

Its a shame to see such one sided games alright.Limerick took Cork to extra time in 2010 in the qualifiers.Brolly said on sunday that you have to dedicate your life to football to be at the top,it must be difficult to convince guys from weaker counties to put the required effort into the game when they know that realistically they wont win anything.
Cha Fitzpatrick said the games not worth the effort if youre not playing, and hes a Kilkenny hurler, practically guaranteed an all Ireland every year,so what hope for the peripheral counties?

it shouldn't be difficult , its a serious honour to represent your county , but to represent your county your application and commitment must be 100% or else you should throw in the towel because gaelic games in this day and age requires 100 % commitment , Jim McGuinness and Donegal have shown what can be done , every other weak county must follow their lead or risk beatings such as the one Limerick suffered tonight

Limerick have fallen back a fair bit from this game http://www.rte.ie/sport/gaa/football/2010/0723/268449-limerick_cork/ and that cork side won the All Ireland.

You making comments like your all knowing, Limerick has several big clubs that dont even have a football team or if they do its a mickey mouse one. There is not the interest in Limerick bar a few clubs in the west Limerick. There is a saying in Limerick "id rather watch the hurlers get hammered than watch the footballers win".

Speaks volumes. I could understand that attitude to a degree if the hurlers were competitive but they're second rate as well. Has rugby cleaned GAA out in Limerick?

The argument that the gap is widening still remains to be seen but it is worrying. However if you look back at the seventies the same two or three teams were dominating both codes. We got a bit of a spread in the eighties particularly with Offaly in hurling but the nineties was the best decade of the lot. With all the provincial and all-ireland breakthroughs in both codes we were spoilt. Still the last five winners of SAM have been different so a bit to go to fall to the seventies level.

I got that impression myelf. I was working down there recently & saw nothing but rugby shirts, jackets & flags everywhere with nary a Limerick GAA jersey in sight, and that's allowing for a poor season for Munster.

Rugby and soccer, the city would be more soccer orientated I think. The saying that freetaker speaks of rings true, and it's unfortunate because we're not truly competitive in hurling either for the moment. Work needs to be done in both codes for us to even try to think of progressing.

Why O why is RTE showing this Kerry - Tipp game toady? we all know its going to be another snooze-fest which will be over at half time. They would be better off showing the Laois - Louth game, or even the Wiclow - Longfort game im sure they will be a lot closer and more entertaining.

Or will this Tipp make me eat my words?

I see kids all the time with Hurleys, this is a myth about Rugby. I also love the way "we are not competitive" some "competitive" counties never get to national finals, yet they are decribed as "competitive". We beat Clare last year with something to spare and people still rave about clare yet Limerick are not "competitive". Ill repeat what i said earlier, there is little or no intrest in football by 90% of the Limerick Gaa public.

Pathetic stuff so far, I wonder what clown in RTE thought this would be a good game to show Live?

Kerry running away with it and still in first gear.

The ginnett in RTE who decided this match should be on TV should be sacked.A couple of decent Leinster championship matches today that have much more potential to produce a decent contest were ignored.

Why do RTE seem to think that everybody in Ireland wants to watch Kerry play because the truth of the matter is they would prefer to watch a competitive match

Lads half of ye see one result and talk absolute nonsense. GAA in general is fighting a very hard fight with rugby. I myself play rugby and hurling and I'm not the only one in Limerick. Its all fare well being from most of the western counties where football is god. We play and love other sports. You cant win em all but hey we have 2 Lions for the tour to australia. How many do the rest of the country have? Comepetition of young mins guys. We cant all be brainwashed by Jim Mcguinness into devoting our lives to GAA

Tipp and Limerick and Galway are all pure muck , its not the championships structure that is at fault for the deplorable performances of these three sides

murlo that's very ignorant of you!!limerick jus don't have the players the players try as hard, if not hardr as it must be hard to motivate yourselfs when relastically u have no chance!! the structure will have to change to a A and B possibly C competittion

Thinks thats it, the munster championship is a joke, limerick and tipp, clare and waterford are too far behind Cork and Kery and some of the criticism of tipp and limerick is not right , they are just not at that level and theres nothing that will change in the current structure.
