Make your point but analysists who stick the knife in for fun thinking they are been honest annoy me.

I said it was going to happen but I didn't want to believe it. Mayo go on with false hope, Galway are as good as gone.

That game highlighted the difference between first and
second divisions teams. Well done Mayo.

The intensity and pace of division 1 football definitely prepares a team better for championship football. I'm hoping the same can be said when we take on Derry in a few weeks lol.

So bad it was embarrassing. No problem with our sendings off - both deserved. But what does Keith Higgins have to do to get the line? He got away with punching Mark Hehir a few years back and should have got the line today for hitting Johnny Duane.

No surprise to see Brolly putting the boot in afterwards into Galway. Fair play to Spillane and O'Rourke for putting him in his place.

Am I correct in hearing that no one on the Sunday game panel tipped mayo to win. Are they actually being paid good money to offer "expert" analysis, or do they just have something against mayo? Because I can't think of any other reason why anyone who claims to know anything about Gaelic football would tip a team beaten by Antrim and Sligo last year, and playing in division 2 to beat a mayo side Playing in all Ireland semi and finals over the last 2 seasons. At the moment Galway football is at an all time low, while mayo have probably the best side they have produced in 50 years. As James Horan said before the game, "we are favourites for very logical reasons, and we expect to win". It appears logic goes out the window on the Sunday game panel.

Ailteoir I agree how Higgins got away with throwing a punch again is hard to believe. The man is like Tyson forever throwing Haymakers and never getting punished.

Marty Duffy, well nothing more can e said about that man. Galway were horrible, game over at half time. Spillane and O Rourke showing their expertise pre game again. Both picked Galway for reasons unknown to anybody who has watched both teams in the last 12 months.

I can see why Spillane would pick Galway, as they were his last hope of a "Purist" team overcoming the evil modern football and winning by playing open football.

Are Galway really that bad or were Mayo really that good will likely be the next question to twist minds. I'd say Mayo were that good and as I predicted at during the National League, they will be in with a serious shout for an All Ireland despite a shaky enough League campaign.

The sendings off were a sideshow but Mayo could have had 2 or 3 sent off also such was their pulling, dragging and cynicism. Higgins and Aidan O'Shea both gave sneaky belts off the ball and of course no sideline official or referee saw them! Yes Galway were awful , without any intensity or gameplan whatsoever but Mayo were made to look brilliant. I cannot see an AI in that Mayo team even though their supporters will be gloating about that from now on unfortunately for us that have to listen to them!

Spillane and O'Rourke predicting Galway to win before the game. This is our Tax payers money and TV Licence fee paying their appearance fee's. Time for a change at RTE.

No I think Derry and Down will probably give a better Indication.

In fairness to Brolly ailteoir, he has never forgotton or forgiven Galway for beating the red hot favourites Derry in the 1998 AI semifinal on which he was a team member and in most of the games both teams have played since. It was a pity for him as he loved throwing kisses to the crowd when he'd score a goal! In all seriousness, Colm O'Rourke called his bluff and rightly stated he was over the top in his praise of Mayo today because of his barney with Horan after last year's AI final when he said Mayo didn't have a chance against Donegal and that Mayo were very cynical (which is one of the few things he got right)!

@paddyogall - I'd be more worried if I was you about how Mayo will do against much better opposition than we provided today.

Indeed tommyk. Brolly went quiet when Spillane pointed out that if Galway aren't a serious football county, what does that say about Derry given we beat them in the league. Still he'll change his tune about Mayo if they get out of Connacht [which I think they will].

Good man Spillane :) only improvement in mayo is a kerry man :) Buckley. Priceless. :)

I noticed that. Chancer! Although I did notice they have brought in the Kerry style non-handpass. They must have thrown themball 4 or 5 times in the first half.

I nearly forgot that Galway beat Derry also in the 2001 AI semifinal and that would add further ammunition to Brolly's rant today along with the 1998 AI semifinal loss.

Fair play Mayo, but they have learned nothing. A win is a win all the same. The worry for Mayo is that they now march through Connacht playing nobody and get caught in a quarter or a semi final. They were good today though, worked hard not to let Galway into the game in the first 15 minutes. IMO they are as good as anyone out there from midfield back.

Ya bit of both. Mayo will be there or thereabouts. Gonna be a good champers, 5 or 6 teams with a genuine shout.

Very Poor performance and the team over the last few years have totally distanced themselves from the virtues that represent galway football. However i do think the management deserve a while longer to settle this team but they also have to go away and question their tactical approach towards teams and indeed concentrate on the basics. Similiar to what mayo do. They have no stars just average footballers who put everything in to every phase of possession
