To suggest that the vast majority of people in Britain have never heard of the Gaa is ridiculous. They may not follow it but they have heard of it,no question

As an Englishman born and raised, who knew nothing of the GAA or Galeic Football or Hurling, until I moved to Dublin a few years ago. I can tell you that most people, in England at least, know nothing of Gaelic games. Whenever I tell people people about Gaelic football or Hurling, they look at me like I'm mental! I'll always try and get freinds and family from England to a game though, and they always enjoy it!

If Sky covered it it you might get people watching it, expecially if they promoted it or if London started doing incredibly well in either code.

Sky-sports = Hype Hype Hype , All Sizzle No Sausage , amount of hours dedicated might go up , but quality wouldn't ,
God I love walking out of Croker having watched a blood and thunder game , walking into Quinns or Fagins and listening to the rubbish passed off as analysis on SKY , crap games passed off as fasciniating or intriguing ,
Skyports Markets like no one else and is good at what it does selling its products ,
However its profit oriented and the nature and fabric of what we are does not run easily alongside .
Sky also played a huge role in taking the game of soccer away from the working class man .
SKYSPORTS no thanks .

A GAA match in Wembley would be great! It was done in the old stadium so why not the new one? They'd have to do a hell of a lot of promotion for it though. I think people in the UK would go really go for Gaelic games if they were promoted right, even if they just went to one game for the novelty, and Sky would probably be the vehicle for that.

I can't see it happening Wayno

I mean Sky is British company and the GAA is but an amateur sport

Its quiet unreal that sky will report on everything from soccer to an egg and spoon race in Argentina and yet don't even offer the score of an All Ireland final just across the water where over 80,000 people attend and many millions Irish people in the UK have an interest in.

I doubt hurling in Wembley would work, most goalies wouldd be able to score a point from the puckout

no i reckon it would do the opposite it would make more peole sit at home and not go to matches as they would be getting updates from all games.
wouldnt ever be in favour of abritish comany running the show anyway we have enough of that already here in ireland.

I totally disagree with the above. More coverage is better, it brings the game to a wider audience. People then want to be part of it. Look at the darts for instance. You could sit at home and watch the whole thing, yet tickets for the majority of games are sold out for months.
As for that second line, what a load of nonsense. Personally, I would be more interested in getting the best company to run the show, regardless of where they are from.

most people who go to the darts go for one reason a good night out and drinking session, the only reason the darts sells out is becuase it only has one night a year in the 02 for the premier league,if you go to the citywest for the world grand prix it oly does be full at the final.if you think its nonsense then just look at the railway cup for exampl it used to get huge crowds then tv came in everywhere and its simply drained the competition.the irish psyche will clearly show you if you can watch 2 gaa matches and amix of other sports in your front room or pay out 30 euro to go and sit in a wet seat your only going to have one winner unfortuantly for most irish people.
if you think my comment is wrong about them being british then you msut take alook at why the gaa was created in the first place.
one reason was to keep irish culture alive, now at a time we have british and american culture domiating daily life in ireland the gaa stands alone as one of the only irish owned and irish run associations still thriving by handing over the reigns to a british company you may aswell do away with another part of irish culture

what good would it do when the main compeition is called the all ireland championship,by showing matches on sky sports do you really think it will make european or birtish people fly over week in week out to come to matches haha when they simply are now being given it on a tv screen to sit in their own living room and watch

1382154 Hill16,having more rugby coverage on tv has done no harm to attendances at rugby games has it?The more games on tv,the more exposure, which would be good for our games. They are among the most exciting sports around, the only thing they lack is exposure.

Why? Why does the GAA need worldwide exposure? Think of it as an exclusive club and you are fortunate to be a part of it!
