And what players is there to look out for?

The winners of Cork v Tipp will be favourites v Kerry/Waterford in Munster. Michael Cahalane of Cork looks like a serious operator as does Conor Keane of Kerry who was also minor last year.

Yes losers of that one won't get a second chance.

Very difficult to predict. I hear Galway have a very good team this year but with minors you never know. They can be very inconsistent at that age.

Galway look good for Connacht and will take a top side to beat them in the All Ireland series along with their league title nearly all of their players have won the last two Ted Webb cups. In Munster i'd fancy Cork Ulster is very open is hard to know while in Leinster Dublin aren't as good as other years and Meath were well beaten by Offaly but still in the championship Kildare might add minor title to their U-21 title.

Anyliser. Just to be clear meath were coasting to victory v offaly and conceded 4-8 in last twenty mins. Or something like that, they bounced back and beat longford easily the next day out.
with minors things like that happen, meath have a good minor side and with mcentee in charge he will get them focused.

Monaghan beat Donegal in the league final in Ulster. In saying that Down beat Monaghan and Donegal beat Down well. Along with those three teams throw in Tyrone and you couldn't predict a winner from Ulster!

Dublin won the Leinster minor league back in March, bet us in the final with some late goals in what was otherwise a pretty even game throughout.

Very hard to judge teams off that though at this age group, and especially harder for us considering the only semi meaningful match we've had since then has been the Kilkenny one.

Offaly, Dublin and ourselves looks to be the tougher side of the draw but that won't count for much, think it was 2010 when Longford bet Offaly in the final despite being hammered by them in the first round, very early to be trying to make predictions when things like that can happen.

Were well beaten all the same and can be thankful of the safety net in Leinster unlike Ulster,Connacht. Maybe Meath will do what Longford did in 2010.

Minor football is a hard to predict but i'll take a stab at it.

Munster - Cork
Leinster - Kildare
Connacht - Galway
Ulster - Tyrone

All Ireland - Galway

Roscommon only lost by 2 points in the connacht league final and are always strong in this grade. 2 time champions running, never rule us out!

Meath have Westmeath at home, while minor is a nightmare to predict id say we will.contest another final and id be hopeful we would prevail

Westemeath had a very good u-16 team in 2011 they might be worth outside bet for Leinster but then again Tommy Carr is managing them and he's unlikely to get the best out of them.

Fair play to Tipp beating Cork yet again though Munster minor format is a mess.

The Munster minor championship has teams going through sidedoors, backdoors and nearly all sorts of doors:

Quarter-Finals this year:
Cork v Kerry ... Cork won the replay and advanced to semi-finals
Tipperary v Clare ... Tipperary advanced to the semi-finals
Waterford v Limerick ... Waterford advanced to the semi-finals

The three losing quarter-finalists enter a play-off:
Clare v Limerick ... Clare advance to second play-off to play Kerry
Kerry v Clare ... Kerry won to advance to the semi-finals

Semi-Finals played during the week:
Tipperary v Cork ... Tipperary won and have advanced to the final.
Kerry v Waterford ... Kerry have also won and advanced to the final.

Now being from Kerry, I'm not complaining but a few of us have been commenting on how funny the situation is that we lost out to Cork but are now in a Munster final and Cork are out! As far as I'm aware the losing finalist still enters the All-Ireland qualifiers so having come back into Munster though a sidedoor there's still a route of a backdoor to the All-Ireland stage! It's gas stuff!

The format itself is messy anyways having 3 quarter-finals with three advancing to semi-finals and 3 playing off to be the fourth semi-finalist. It'd be better to have 4 teams in round 1 with the 2 winners taking on the other 2 counties in round 2. Round 2 winners would advance to the semi-finals while rounds 1 and 2 losers would play-off in round 3:

Round 1
Cork v Kerry (Cork win after replay)
Tipperary v Clare (Tipperary win)

Round 2
Cork v Waterford (Cork win for arguments sake)
Tipperary v Limerick (Tipperary win for arguments sake)

Round 3
Kerry v Waterford (Kerry win i.e. as happened during the week)
Clare v Limerick (Clare win i.e. as happened at the end of April)

Semi-Final
Cork v Clare
Tipperary v Kerry

I think the above would be more fairer and better type of format, influence by Christy Ring Cup format, no reinvention of the wheel now or anything like that!

It gives every team at least two games same with leinster. Meath got hammered by Offaly in the first round and now they are in a semi final and offaly are out.
Look what happened us in 2011 we played Waterford and beat them then played Tipp in the semi final and were out. Waterford still managed to make the semi final against Cork.
