Donegal v Tyrone

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Well Cacs I think Mickeys reasons for boycotting RTE are completely legitimate and they are a bunch of oul Snobs anyway. Most of their Tv People would give me the 'Skitter',just listening to them.Hypocrites and snobs who would rather have been born on the other side of the Irish sea.

Well with Mickey and co boycotting RTE - don't expect much build-up outside the two counties

I wouldn't be too sure of that. Mickey may not be talking to RTE but that won't stop him getting his two cents (/pence) in at every opportunity. He's the Harry Redknapp of the GAA circuit!

Jim isn't too shy around the old microphone too.

The Dubs know all about this sort of media fondness having had Tommy Lyons at the helm for a few years.

Fortress Ballybofey has taken a dent or two of late and I wonder how much of SON's supposed freak injury was down to this fixture.
I have a feeling this is going Tyrone's way

Explain... Jim hasn't lost a single match in Ballybofey as a manager.

We were negative 2 years ago. But not really that bad now, at least I dont think so anyway. I feel that Tyrone have more to offer than most too. I watched some of their games this year in the league and they are as exciting as u will get. I have only seen one true pure team this year, and that is dublin, but they have their negative moments too.

Whats Donegals championship record at Ballybofey for last few years. its not what it once was. I know this is a new era under Jim but my shaky fiver is on Mickey Harte

This game should be at Clones full stop. The Ulster Championship provides the only entertainment, excitement and passion within Gaelic football until the All Ireland quarters and those bleating on about negative Ulster football are the same ones who deny they watch British Royal weddings; we all know they are talking ***** and will be glued to the screens.

Not true Ulsterman. If you look at the Connacht championship since 2007 four of the five teams have won it and many of the matches have been won by a point or two.For excitement it beats the Ulster championship hands down, only problem is the teams from the west are no good when they leave the province.

You would think listening to some people on here that Donegal are screwed in a few weeks time!

Some good analysis on here but an awful lot of strange stuff that will prove to be rubbish by the end of this month.

Donegal are All-Ireland Champions for many reasons. We have match winners all over the pitch, fantastic fitness levels, disciplined tacklers and a ferocious defence. Our spread of scorers is excellent. We have a championship record of 12 wins from 13 matches under Jim McGuinness in his two-year tenure so far.

Tyrone have it all to prove when they come to Ballybofey. They've lost two league finals in the past two seasons and lost twice to Donegal in the same period. League form is a sketchy guide at best. Donegal will have the edge I feel by 4 or 5 points.

True.since Mcguinness took the helm only Dublin have beaten Donegal yet youd swear that Tyrone are their bogey team. Its two out of two for Donegal against Tyrone and I reckon that will soon be three out of three.

I'm going for Tyrone by a point I don't think Donegal can just turn form on like a tap even with the all powerful and knowing Jim at the helm. Really looking forward to the game reckon a red card is well worth a bet in this one.

Neither team will want to lose this game a long hot summer sightseeing awaits the loser and a handy day out in Clones in July awaits the winning (Down and Derry)might just have other ideas but the fact is Donegal and Tyrone will be a traditional Ulster tussle dire/negative maybe but Donegal will pump the ball high into Robocop and Tyrone will be living off scraps of breaking ball in midfield with Cassidy
out injured the omens for a Tyrone victory don't look good a draw and reply in Clones is the best I will be hoping for. But! I thought the same thing travelling down to Dublin last Sunday and came away with renewed optimism !!! I guess when it gets nearer the time I will be BELIEVING MORE TOTAL FAITH!

I've never understood why some of our northern posters constantly bring British sentiments into GAA matters. On this page alone there are two references. Here is a website that involves something uniquely Irish and yet this occurs. Its very very odd!

No but what they can do is turn on the Jim McGuinness Championship tactics which are alot different to league tactics. The championship Donegal tactics will be to run up and down the field in numbers as in 13-14 players and choke the brains out of the opposition

It's not a question of turning on form like a tap Bluewave. What makes all the difference is that, as of now, they will be at full strength, they will also be several notches fitter & able to employ championship tactics. Will it be enough? I don't know. A lot will depend on the performances of the two managers on the sideline, will they get their selections/tactics/substitutions right/ That's where the game will be won & lost in my view

True just kick it over their heads :) easier said than done but they are beatable, I'm sure they will think twice about fouling after seeing Morgan this spring.

You can count on it!! There will be no fouls given away inside of 60 yds unless there is a strong wind in which case.......

Agree with you, the margins will be tight and the sideline could play a vital role really looking forward to it.
