I don't think our lads waltzed through Tyrone's defence in the league final at all.

Any score we got was hard won and it'll be the same for your boys Sunday.

Since when did Tyrone people become too good to stand on a terrace? I'm getting pretty sick of these so called 'fans'repeatedly insulting the facilities at Ballybofey. No one is in danger, and I doubt anyone's view will be significantly restricted. Of course its not perfect, but very few county grounds are. Stop being so precious, and get out there and support your team instead

1389463 Fair enough GaryMc,your entitled to your opinion. So to be clear, you think that Donegal who have been relegated already this year will be less adversely affected by a defeat than Tyrone's team in the making who are not quite the finished article just yet? That Donegal, who are the finished article, would relinquish their Ulster crown to the young pretenders of Tyrone and be just fine? If thats what you are claiming then I disagree with you.

Yes I think Donegal who were relegated from Division 1 this year( And shockingly didnt seem to care ), could take the defeat a little better than Tyrone.

Are Donegal the finished article? I don't think they are. Sure they won the All Ireland, but there was clearly room for Improvement in there games last season. Don't forget that Donegal too have a substancial amount of young talent in their ranks, so it is not a case of Tyrone being the young guns entering this tie.

Having seen how Donegal 2012 had evolved from their 2011 displays, Would it not be plausible that that same group could evolve even further in 2013? I believe it is plausible and very likely.

Would certainly be interesting to see how Donegal would react to their first defeat in Ulster under Jimmy McGuinness.

Indeed, maybe they did or do care.

The 2012 and 2013 National League campaigns were very similar for Donegal in many respects, clearly Donegal look at the National League as purely prepartion for Championship rather than targeting it as a competition.

So with this in mind, I would look at what exactly Jim McGuinness wished to achieve in the National League this season.
Yes, Donegal would have preferred to stay in Division 1. But was this their primary and prominant goal this season? I myself don't think so.

Donegal's overall performance during this seasons league has been much better than last season, with all their games being relatively tight( No hammerings received ). The overall match results were similar, with the exception of the last match against Dublin, which ended in a draw as opposed to a win against Armagh the year before.

Tyrone barring a few notable exceptions would have the better players. But donegal have Jimmy. And for me that means donegal win

If they cared that much about staying up GateKeeper, why would they have done a full championship training session the day before the Dublin game? Tyrone bust a gut in the league & that's their right. Mickey Harte had a team up from Div 2 with new players & wanted to get a bit of momentum going. I get that & totally respect it. Donegal were coming from a different place, they had already had momentum but also had injuries, tired players, & had not training done due to celebrations & team holiday. So while they didn't want to go down it was a price JMcG was prepared to pay if that meant getting everything else right for Tyrone.
Whether it pans out or not, tomorrow will tell.

I guess we just disagree then GaryMc.I see both squads very differently. We have a team in the making with some new young lads comimg through and you say the same is true for Donegal. It is not, thats why they are naming the same team as won the all Ireland last year and we have lads making their championship debut.

The reason Donegal are playing the same team as last year is that as All Ireland Champions they have no need to. Who would you drop out of that side? Donegal brought their new blood in only 2 years ago & have only 1 or 2 players over 30.

Donegal would have prefered to stay up. McGuinness gambled and it did not pay off, in the same way as the year before, except it did then. The league was quickly forgotten after we beat Derry in the first round of the championship (no disrespect to Cavan). I think that we could even have an advantage in division 2. Who knows. I feel that there is a lot to be gained out of not training too hard in spring if you are serious about the end of the year.

Good posting muck.
Lads believe us when we say Donegal were not interested in the league, in the county that was very clear, I was at a talk where jim was main speaker two weeks before Dublin game and as muck said the plan was a their FINAL WEEK OF REST and full tilt into championship training with complete focus on Tyrone and if we are lucky enough to get a result in the Dublin game then we will take it.

Also agree, way on earth would you be dropping anyone from that team at the moment.

With their winning 15 on the pitch this is a straightforward test of Donegal's resolve. If they really have retained the appetite for Sam, they'll win by 2 or 3.

Thats exactly the point I am making. That Tyrone are an evolving team right now, whereas Donegal know their best 15 and have done for some time.

If Donegal don't come out of the blocks they will be in serious trouble. Everybody get the note books out and count how many times Donegal try to foul Sean cavanagh around midfield to avoid Morgan's long rangers. Joe mcquillan will punish accordingly , Donegal fans will look on in disbelief on their home sod, Tyrone will push on and win by 3 or 4 points. Sean cavanagh will get man of the match and everyone will be scratching their heads going " oh Jesus aye, Sean cavanagh, forgot about him" . And on we go.

Anyone else having a problem with season tickets? I was getting an error last night when trying to print out tickets and today I cant get logged in at all!

Just seen a letter that came in the post from the GAA that said to print out tickets before 1pm yesterday. I was away working all week so its a bit late seeing that now! Surely they could have given us better notice of this!!

I wouldn't be counting on that particular ref spotting anything.

If he can't see a lad bounce a ball twice then I wouldn't hold out much hope.

I fancy Tyrone for this one, SON and Cavannagh to be the difference.

The season ticket from the GAA is absolutely farcical. A lot more hassle than they are worth.
