Lads it sounds like ye will be without two good men against Clare. Pa Cronin is definitely out and I hear Lorcan McLoughlin is 50/50 at best, how do you feel your panel will cope without these guys ?

christ Cork seem to be in some state , no good players coming through , its all just so poor , this is the worst Cork side I've seen in my lifetime granted I'm young enough but they really are poor , one has to put it into perspective and think about the fact that in 2006 , Cork were going for the three in a row and how horribly they've failed in maintaining the high standards needed to stay at the top compared to Kilkenny , its a complete disgrace , the older players who are gone now must take some of the criticism for the state the current side are in they didnt have the desire or hunger to keep the side going , Cork are better than that but to say their championship performances have been anything more than feeble the last few years would be an overstatement , and the sad thing is its not even a good talking to that will get this Cork team to stir , they simply arent good enough , they lack pace , physicallity and basic talent to compete and I fear that themselves and Waterford are going to really fall adrift from Limerick , Clare and Tipp over the next few years , its a real mess and sad because hurling needs a strong Cork team but this group of players dont have the stomach for it , I expect them to be beaten off the field by more hungry and talented Clare side next Sunday and even if Cork manage to beat Clare , they're simply papering over the cracks because there needs to be a serious overhaul regarding hurling in Cork

Think Clare have better hurlers but think that they are v young and didn't come out of their shells against a very poor Waterford until it became obvious that they had it won. Also with the exception of Conlon Clare have no established ball winners in half forward line. Do Cork have experience/cuteness to beat a more talented but significantly less experience Clare?

Murlo111 I have yet to see a poor Cork side, the worst side to ever play hurling for Cork was suppose to be 1990 what did they do win the all Ireland, when Cork are suppose to be poor, beware...... could yet be Munster Champions.

murlo i think you are being a little harsh on cork, i think blaming the old retired players for the current state of cork hurling is totally unfair they gave everything they had for cork over a number of years. the age profile was similar in that team so it was inevitable that they would retire at the same time, maybe one or 2 retired early but for the most part they had nothing more to give. i don't think that they will win anything this year but they will be able to compete with the other top teams, i do agree that they might lack physicality but they have a lot of genuine pace in their team. along with a lot of other counties at the moment cork are in a rebuilding process and i believe after 3 or 4 years they will be close to winning an all ireland again. it doesn't take 10 years to turn it around just look at clare for example we lost to laois in the league just 2 years ago and then we were as low as we could possobly have gone, but noe people consider clare as being a really competitive team, so all hope is certainly not lost for cork.

Cronin and McLaughlin are massive blows

Are people too quick to endorse Clare as a competitive team? Waterford were very poor and really didn't show up. Same goes for Limerick. We wont know how good Clare are until they play Cork or how good Limerick are until they play the Munster final.

depends what exactly you mean by competitive. if you take kilkenny out, anyone of 7 would think they have a great chance of winning the all ireland because no 1 will be significantly better than anyone and anyone can be beaten on any given day

There is no such thing as a poor cork team, I think cork will shade it on Sunday, when any cork team gets a run on you they are very hard to beat, it's in all cork teams they have confidence to beat anyone, Clare could experience a backlash

Think people are expecting a lot of Clare with no real evidence for this. . . . Kind of fancy Cork for Munster. . . Cork getting relegated(albeit in a stupid league format) is bound to invoke a serious championship effort. . . .it's a bit of an outside bet but that's where my money is

Doylerwex reading you constantly comment on Clare is annoying, i think you should lend some of your opinions to the Wexford Froum and comment on the state that is Wexford hurling at present. No one is writing off Cork thats crazy, will be a close game without a doubt Sunday and im not sure if anyone cares where your money is.

Ah Rover. . .

That's a bit over the top. I flood the Wexford forums. We have been shocking in recent years but are taking baby steps in the right direction. I am not just a Wexford fan I'm also a hurling fan and have every right to express my opinion on any game I like !

Sorry Doylerwex its just that you point out painfully obvious things that anyone who knows hurling would know. It does not really need to be said. I agree you can express your opinion on any game you like, but im not sure any Cork or Clare person really cares. No disrespect intended here to Wexford because it would be for the good of hurling if you were a quarter decent but unfortunately those baby steps you are taking are being destroyed by the giant steps of others. i understand why you'd be intrested in the Munster Championship becuase the Lenister is often boring.

irishrover i think you are being very harsh on doyler, clare and cork people reading these posts will respect and"care" for what he has to say as much as anyone else who posts here from their own counties. wexford are making baby steps, it will take time but i believe they will be back, and i'm not sure who you are talking about when you say giant steps being made by others. if anything the championship this year has proved so far that the gap is closing. there is definitely no team making giant steps towards joining kilkenny but teams including wexford are slowly getting closer.

Hurlingexpert i said "im not sure anyone from clare or cork cares about what he has to say" i didnt say i was "sure". You obviously do care so ill stand corrected. My point and its still valid is saything things like "dont write off Cork" and "Clare have done nothing yet" are obvious. Who in the right mind would NOT KNOW THAT ALREADY!!!!

He is quiet right, he is allowed his opinion same as yourself and me, but please come up with else than the blind obvious.

No one in there right mind would write off Cork and I know Clare face a great challenge this weekend. I only hope they can overcome it.
