Slag them all ye want at least they enter, how many counties dont enter hurling competitions? Dont count special A or B or whatever they call them. Proper full on hurling competitions.

It looks like no one from Kilkenny is interested even in posting on this thread. Which probably tells us what we already knew, they are really part-members of the GAA not actually full ones. Cut all grants, voting etc by 50% and give to counties at least trying, a few of the football only counties should qualify for similar treatment.

"A few football only"!!! I think you will find that there are lots of counties where hurlers are treated like dirt. Even in Westmeath, they are waiting for the County Board to organise medals they won nationally four years ago!

One club in Kilkenny Railyard have entered a team in the Minor Football League in Carlow this year but have pulled out, their Senior side are playing their second year in Football League Division 2 in Carlow.

Just to say something, someone said Kildare's minors wouldn't get hammered by 34 points against Kilkenny in hurling, I disagree, our minor hurlers last year beat Kildare in a great game by 3 points but ended up on the wrong side of a 30 point beating by Dublin, a team on a similar level to Kilkenny.

hulringuru thats good to see,I would like to see all their underage teams play in the carlow leagues it would bring them playing football week in week out,its no short term fix it will take time but the attitude from alot of hurling only people here and some others is to simply just say sure kilkenny can put up hammerings like that in hurling, yes we all know they can even to the so called top teams but this is about kilkenny football,so people coming out with comments like that its just burying your head in the sand and ignoring the problem kilkenny have here in football instead of coming up with sloutions to the problem.

Can't agree with you about the players being applauded and trying their best to be honest, if they don't put in the effort then they're just as much to blame as the county board. They deserve every beating they get until they decide to prepare properly, you'd never hear of this happening from Kilkenny hurlers

This is a really stupid thread. No one can blame the young lads going out and known they were probably about to take a hammering.
People can't keep blaming the Kilkenny county board for these defeats. You've to look at the clubs and primary schools. What is the story with u8s and 10s football in Kilkenny?
Then you've to look at the players, only one lad showed up to training. Why didn't the other 14 lads who started show up!! The management need to be getting on to these players simple as.
The county board can't keep taking the blame for when Kilkenny footballers for these heavy defeats.

Kerry go out into the Minor in Muster most years and take an awful hammering but you can be certain there is 30 lads back in Lerrig or Causway fighting for their places.

Hurlings a far score score intensive game. A 30 point hammering in hurling is equivalent to a 15 point hammering in football. In fairness to Kilkenny they are a waste of space. They like to think of themselves as top of the pile in GAA terms however counties like Tipp, Galway, Cork, Dublin and a host of others put them to shame. In every county had the same attitude as them Gaelic Games would be dead.

I know what half of 34 is st conleths thanks though! Your a sensitive soul aren't you!! You took my point very literally but if you wanna live in denial that kikdare have never been hammered you work away maybe not by 34 or 17 points but 13 points isn't too far away or have we forgotten our second half performance against the dubs few weeks ago or cork last August! Maybe I'm wrong but losing my 13 points to me is a hammering sorry didn't see the rule where it's 17 or over!

This forum is abolutely redundant. Some called to ask for what was happening in the under 8's and 10's in Kilkenny..... What is happening with the Under 8's and 10's in Hurling in counties like Sligo, Monaghan, Longford, Louth, Tyone and armagh. (Way more to name) Ye are absolutely blinded by your love for Football that you have no room for Hurling or growing it. In keryy hurling is kept alive by a few selected clubs wherea the rest of the county would rather the county board stop paying for it. In some counties their underage clubs have 3 or teams and their "senior" championship is made up of 3 or 4 "senior" teams. PLEASE do not use that absolute foolish argument that the scring is different in Hurling than Football. ye should look into sortin yeer own problems Before mocking Kilkenny. Im goin to start a forum about one of the weaker counties in Hurling soon enough and accuse them of killing GAA. by not promoting BOTH of out national games. the exact same thing that is goin on in Kilkenny.

some people say its schools and clubs that should be to blame and not the county board, but should the county board not show the initiative

so Kilkenny withdraw form the Leinster minor football round 2 championship. Mission accomplished, field a team, get the grant money, and then withdraw.

Save the bother in future, if you dont have a team, then dont enter one. Dont make other coutnies waste money in travelling to play a game that does no one any good, just so you cna get your Leisnter council funding.

but this thread is about the kilkenney footballers.
by saying it haenes in hurling is not going to solve the problem within kilkenny that exists is it now.
kilkenny are the only county in football with this problem,so if anything you should be looking for a resolution to help them and then if that resolution is succesful in kilkenny regarding football the same method could then be used in the countys who are weak in hurling and bring them up another level.

No what I'll do is set up a completely pointless thread talking about the force entry of Louth into the Liam Mac carthy and then talk nonsense as they are hammered off the field calling for their heads as they don't promote hurling there as they promote football....... Sorry for using Louth but could have used up to 15 other "GAA" counties.

Despite the fact that anybody putting forward that argument initially was completely missing the point, it will be interesting to see how we get on. Can't imagine we'll be in any way close to Kilkenny but to have beaten both Wicklow and Carlow so far is decent enough going for the minors.

I fail to see the merit in providing the Cats, or Dubs for that matter, a back door in Leinster minor hurling. Hard enough to beat them once!
