I have a lot of time for Galvin.Of course he is never far from the headlines and has had plenty of bad publicity over the years but you don't ever hear about the other side of him. When Brian McGuigan was recovering from his serious eye injury a few years ago,Galvin sent him a signed Kerry jersey.A fantastic gesture that Paul didn't have to do but one that Brian really appreciated. But of course these stories never see the time of day.

I have to laugh at people here who think secterian abuse can't be directed at a cathoilc from another catholic, sure didn't Sheehan get in bother last year when he was at it against Armagh. I have played against Southern teams before and been called loads of secterian things, didn't bother me in the slightest much in the same way as when playing a game in my own County if someone gives me stick in relation to my family or how I look. I let the person slabber on. Thats not to say that some people are more volatile and do react, and whilst you can't qualify spitting against verbals, why does it seem to be acceptable now to try and 'be the bigger person' when in situations like this? I wouldn't spit on somebody myself irrelevant of the abuse, but in that situation I don't see how anyone can condemn the spitting if the person spat at was being abusive. Verbal abuse is serious enough to land you in prison if its focused on a persons skin colour, why should it be seen as acceptable when its in other forms (mother, sister, looks, weight etc), as these contain as much hatred and offense.

On another note, this is the second time in a year that a Kerry club haven't been able to take their beating at the hand of a Tyrone club. Unbelievable how much reaction was last year after Derrytresk won, the same again this year. Incidents involving Tyrone teams seem to get a lot of publicity, yet I have heard about a lot of other incidents involving southern counties the past week that haven't been highlighted as much, such as the Emilyn Mulligan incident or stone throwing at the linesman in the Leinster U-21 Championship.

Fair play, is often centre of attention himself and maybe he has learned not to retaliate all the time. Kind of shows you the mentality and i'd go as far to say tactics of tyrone football.. That player was looking for a reaction and im glad he's found out for the 'kind of person' he really is....

Theres a lot more class to Galvin than there is to Mulligan, no doubt about that.

In all fairness neither Finuge or Paul Galvin made anything of this, so how you can say that they "couldn't take their beating" is beyond me.

All you are doing is stirring a pot that needs no more stirring.

How is this a case of them not taking their beating?

Kerry nor the club nor Galvin are making a fuss here, the video was put up on youtube and people are rightly condeming it. Incredible ignorance

Spitting is disgusting, absolutely disgusting; as a Tyrone supporter there can be no other stance.
The GAA need to stamp out this behaviour and individuals involved should be disciplined.
I think we're playing right into the hands of Galvin and Mulligan though, they are probably enjoying every second of the media coverage/slanging even if it is for all the wrong reasons. So maybe its time to close this post down before the tit for tat gets out of hand.
(I'm not for one minute defending Mulligan's comments either for those of you looking to pick further arguments.)

Distressing & all as this spitting stuff is it reminded me of an incident many years ago which was, for me, the greatest handling of mouthing I ever saw.

A big full back was giving our full forward plenty of vocal grief & our man was handling it well until the inevitable crack came about the full back's amourous encounters with our man's mother.

At this point our man jogged over to the sideline with the ape in tow only to go to his mother in the crowd & say "Mammy, this fella says you know him well, is that true?". The look on the ape's face said everything & there wasn't another word out of him for the rest of the game!!

Sometimes humour is the best remedy.

The only people on here that are ignorant are those who honestly believe that it wasn't a Finuge player/representative who has released this footage with some sort of hidden agenda to put forward another excuse of the savage behaviour of the Tyrone team that was the main reason they won and Finuge lost. It was the same last year.

Why you trying to take away from the spitting incident? that is all what this is about!

Geoff - regardless of who, what, where, how or why the footage was released, it was, and it clearly shows what happened. Judging by your argument, had Cookstown lost the game, this would have been released as another means of gloating by the victorious team. What a pile of sh1te. There is absolutely no place for spiting on someone else in any society or sport, nevermind the GAA. The player/culprit deserves to be severely punished for what he did and should be man enough to face the music himself rather than other players/supporters trying to defend his actions. To see Tyrone people trying to defend and deflect this is very very disappointing.

Enolagay, well said,
I honestly think your post is more representative of Tyrone people, gaa people in particular, than those trying to divert and muddy the waters with blatant untruths,
Well said
