This where the season ticket is of benefit, at least ye dont have to worry about a fairweather supporter getting a ticket ahead of you , come championship.

Agreed, I'm hoping my club family membership, cost €40, will get me a couple of tickets.

Would there have been a load of club games on in Donegal last Sunday? That might explain why some Donegal people could not have made the journey. Undoubtedly there are some 'fair weather' supporters. However, to label people that are involved in club games/training at this time of year is disingenuous.

I would say the crowd was fairly decent. Maybe if they lowered price they might get another few in.

4,795 in Navan..

Jeez, ye're like Rangers. Still packing them in down in the third division!

these official attendances are wrong most of the time they are just numbers given out
theres an old saying soccer and rugby you take off 10% and gaa you add on 10% then you get closer to the real attendances.
two bump there crowds up and the other wants to make looks less, must have something to do with the tax man haha

Benny

If Donegal & Tyrone were playing in an All Ireland final you could sell well over 100,000 tickets for it. The fact that less than 10,000 could travel a much lesser distance tells me as much as I need to know.

Good point,

Well Said AthCliath..

Does the season ticket guaratee an All Ireland final ticket if you have attended over the 60% of all matches?

yep, just make sure to get your tickets scanned at match. ye can check your attendance record on line then. has to be your own county in final off course.

GAA really need to start playing matches in stadiums of appropriate size. Playing matches in large but empty stadiums during the league does not create an atmosphere. We need matches more matches played in grounds like Healy Park Omagh with a good noisy atmosphere.

disagree with last comment, there was great atmosphere in croker last saturday night and the ground was 3/4 empty,i think people generally get carried away by the capacity of grounds.

Interesting article in today's Indo:
Was there only one fan in ruislip for carlow visit?

Lowest attendances in each division last year:
Div 4: €9 (London v Carlow in Ruislip)
Div 3: €745 (Tipperary v Offaly in Thurles)
Div 2: €3,255 (Westmeath v Derry in Mullingar)
Div 1: €5,903 (Laois v Armagh in Portlaoise)

I find this confusing 5,900 odd euro for the Armagh v Laois game considering Armagh took around 500 + supporters with them to Portlaoise. Now if only 300 paid in at 12 euros,
that would mean 3600, is somebody on the take....

the attendances do be well dubious i said it all along there must be a tax thing as the reason for alot of it,hardly only one supporter at the match in ruislip haha
also laois arent great at turning out if that was a saturday night as we played them last year in portlaoise and on a saturday night and it was nearly all dublin supporters at the match.

I see Bord Contae na Mí have decided that to get into a game now in Páirc Tailteann you need to buy a ticket outside. Expect to see a huge increase in attendance in an Mhí in the coming years! If other counties followed suit i'd be pretty sure attendances would see a big increase!!

Regarding Páirc Tailteann, I was there to see Gaillimh v An Mhí in the championship two years ago. The game was delayed half an hour because a huge crowd showed up. It looked like a full house but the official attendance was given as 16,000 or something. I think i'd be right in estimating that Páirc Tailteann holds close to 30,000.

I'd agree with that. (sorry Hill!). I hate to see rows upon rows of empty seats at games where as there could be near full stadiums. I don't really know why certain counties built and invested in huge stadiums when they cannot fill them or even come close to filling them

the probolem is they have all the bigger stadiums in munster where they dont get big support, like limerick, cork and kerry all have massive grounds and they get small crowds where as in leinster kildare, dublin and meath all have capcitys of 6 thousand,7 thousand and 15 thousand and these would have big supports

In reply to Culann,

Navan's biggest crowd in recent years was the All- Ireland q-final all-ticket match between Sligo v Armagh. The offical attendance was 21,000 and it was packed in like sardines, no one could move.
It was ahealth and safety trap....

the capacity is now 7,500,

as regards tax, there is no tax on gate receipts in the 26 counties, while in the 6 counties it is levied at 21%
