Attendances 2013

25 euro for the tickets to the league final will definitely effect the crowd, I think at best there will be 20,000 and that would be great but I think it will be closer to 15,000

they said they are expecting a full house close anyway to the 23 thousand its only allowed hold now.
I noticed leinster council have quietly upped their championship prices for hill 16 for the leinster quarter finals.
its 25 euro into all parts of the ground where as it was always only 15 or 20 euro into the hill.

21,447 at Nowlan Park today a very good crowd and its nice to see another county ground in Leinster getting over 20 thousand at a game

yeah I been saying for along time gaa should look at using grounds like nowlan park instead of hauling both teams to croker, also the novelty of the cats getting to play a league final helped as opposed to tipp playing it in thurles yet again.
be interesting to see how many was at westmeath v antrim and new york v leitrim.

have been saying it for years the gaa needs to bring the games back to the people like today also support the local businesses that support each county

21,000 at Nolan Park had a much better atmosphere than 34,000 at Croke Park. No fault to Croke Park but without at least 50,000 in it it feels empty.

I regularly see arguments about how a 30,000 attendance is lost in Croke Park. I don't agree though, keep the upper tier closed and you have a 50,000 capacity stadium. I've been there for many games with attendances of between 30 and 40k and found the atmosphere fantastic. Attendances around the 20k are a bit lost alright though. Hopefully the Dubs Spring series will get an early green light for next year and get some decent marketing like it did for the first couple of years and we'll get to see plenty of hurling and football action from HQ in the future.

your spot on there,it would be one thing if 30 or 40 thousand was spread out among lower and upper decks but with crowds of between 30-40 thousand all on the lower deck only in croke park its the same as any other ground, also there used to be a rumour that there needs to be at least 30 thousand to open croke park to make any money but that also would only be if every section of the ground was open as you would have more people working in the stadium.
yeah could be interesting next year should the spring series get the green light as with bernard brogans new company up and running id say it would be a sensible decision to get them involved in promoting the spring series which would be a boost for the national league.

Correct hill 16. It's grand with 25-30k on the lower decks only. And the rumor about breaking even is not true as you said. The div 3 & 4 league finals didn't lose money for the GAA. They only opened the lower hogan and the premium for the hogan. The crowd of 8,000 easily paid for that.

I hope people don't repeat it in future.

I also agree with that. Why should people in the Canal or upper decks at matches pay more than someone on the hill where the atmosphere is better and the view as well.

Now you're talking hill16no1man. Wouldn't it be a breath of fresh air to see the GAA embrace Brogans company and team up with thm for mutual gain. I thing they would be repaid big time. Teaming with one of the associations most marketable stars surely it would be a win win. I think the GAA owe it to their players to back their commercial ventures where possible anyway. I'd be very surprised to see it happen though, unless you Dubs are a lot more forward thinking than the GAA administrators I know further south!

Very true and as Hill said the figure for breaking even is a myth.
Our match with MAYO in league not the semis now,had great atmosphere.

Nowlan Park

Having the league final in Nowlan park was a very good idea. The atmosphere was a lot better than it would have been in a half empty stadium.
