Yes, singer, you really are totally full of it. I havent commented on the the ladies game but have been watching with interest. You're still as jealous as ever and I see your'control' over your players is as strong as well. I'm sure if you had told them not to go to trials, then they wouldn't have gone - yeah right. So the first session was tough. Your obviously not training your team too well if they found it tough. Its you at fault then, not the management.

Just catch a grip and take that chip of your shoulder. You'll never get the job you so desire.

well said jofus.... I see the mens team have brought Paddy Tally on board for next season - a great move... Are there no top class ladies trainers out there we could bring in for our womens team???? Keep the two men in position as management but bring in a person purely responsible for training............

Duff - i agree with ya whole heartdly about the trainer situation..... Lets get in someone who knows what they are on about.. Armagh have brought in probably the best ladies coach in Ireland at the minute to help with them... Surely the money is in the kitty in Down - they just need to use it........

Rite folks enough is enough. As much as I enjoy and respect everyones right to comment can we not give these two fella's a chance. Last year was their first year at county management and they have done better in one year than anyone gone before them. They have brought a professionalism into this set up which was never there before (and I might add that this best ladies trainer Singer refers to was their manager before and he got nowhere - he has done well with UUJ who have the cream of ladies footballers and Ulster well the same goes here). Give the lads a chance and get behind them and the team, who knows what 2009 will bring.

He was in charge of down yeah - but had the county board given him the appropriate time to influence the county on the way football should be played - we would be in th top 12 teams in Ireland now.... As for having the cream of the players - the management still have to influence them to win the games... Many, Many managers tried and failed in the past to do those two jobs.

Look i'm not interested in the Armagh manager. It was him who left Down not Down that forced him out. Anyhow I am more concerned that we have two good men in now and why don't you give them the time this other fella never got and let them influence how football should be played. And I also believe that we are one of the top 12 teams in Ireland.

Singer - get off your high horse... That man deserted our ladies teams telling lies about going to train his club team and not a word of it.... We are better off with who we have at present - at least we know they will give it their all.. And we are in the top 10 teams in Ireland at present if you checked very closely..........

Hi just a few points I would like cleared up, and would it be possible to stop talking about me on this page.

First of all, I did step down from the Down job after beinf offered to coach my home club Men's team, when i had trained Dungiven i was also taking UUJ to The O'connor cup final and between changing job's i had not the time to committ to Dungiven so i disagree with duff on that point.

I throughly enjoyed my time in the two years that I was involved with Down i think we did raise the standards and were close on occasion to beating Tyrone in edendork and Monaghan in Clones.

As gaaforall stated i have been a lucky manager/coach in working with the cream of footballers in ulster and as the old saying goes players win championships managers lose them.

Finally I think veryone in Down should get behind Sean and Paul as the guy's are two very good coaches and have taken down to another level with their prepatration and committment.

I just pray and hope as Armagh Manager we don't draw you in the championship.

best wishes to all involved in Down ladies in 2009 and try to be positive on this site instead of slagging

Well said Gregory - lets see what the lads can do this year and judge them on that..... What has gone on before is done and dusted... A new chapter begins from today for the season.........

Well done to Michaela Downey on receiving a personal best award on saturday night..... A truly wonderful ambassador for ladies footbal in down.... All young girls in the county take note of her personal capabilities and workrate..... This lady has it all and i am sure is a joy to work with on the training field as well as to watch during games... One of the true greats of the modern game.. Pity it took the awards committee 12 years to recognise this..............

Congratulations to Michaela Downey for her all star award.. Definitely deserved by a prolific footballer.... I hope this is the first of many down players to get an award of this stature.. I must also mention Eliza Downey on her rise to prominence in the last year. She too has been a great servant to down ladies and at only 23 has many years left in the red and black jersey... Hopefully next season if all goes well - we will have more girls in the top 45 players in the country... The management must also take praise here as without their drive and enthusiasm - the girls would not have reached the peaks they hit this season.......

I most certainly am not a member of the management - but think with all the flak they have taken - maybe its about time they got credit for something.................. I realise they didnt win the award - but they played their part...............

Any crack from the ladies leately. I hear the draw was on Friday night for the hottest ticket in the county and the new sponsor was none other than the Murdocks from Burren....... Player of the year went to the two all star nominees which i suppose was justified but most improved should have went to Emma Mulhern. This girl has never won a thing with Down and gives her all each time she pulls on a jersey... Recognition where it is deserved please.... Minor player of the year was always going to be Sinead Feagn and was delighted to see the ford girl geting most improved... This girl has a big future in the game for sure......... Has Eliza left the football scene altogether now to play rugby?????

Singer, Just to clarify - Emma Mulhern was down ladies 2007 most improved player, i believe Orla Fegan recieved it this year and having attended most of downs games last year, i thought Orla stood out and was defintely downs most improved player, jenna connell a close second. And yes kathryn boden is a very talented young player and deserved the award she recieved, good player for bryansford and down... i hear that down ladies are training flat out and are well on their way to being fully prepared for the start of their national league campaign - roll on feb!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hopefully the girls will dominate division 2 and it would be nice to see them get promotion and play teams like Kerry and Tyrone that they almost beat last year! Keep up the good work girls...
