Excellent ideas. I would back that no problem. If teams realise the ramifications of their actions by refixing games etc they will just stick to the due date. the one about the c'ship is brilliant and would make clubs sit up and take notice.. Who are the clubs that are apparently folding???

Despite all the club talk at the minute - any word on the county team progress to date?? Some girls are not too happy with the park runs on a sunday morning stating it is November..... The national league aint for another 3 months yet...

Yes I think this is a basic idea that will let clubs understand they must participate in the full season to get to play in the championship, it should be a privilege that can be taken away! girls would take more notice also as every girls wants to play championship football.

Singer really? all I am hearing from my club and then one or two outside the club i know well is that its very hard training but the squad are enjoying it and seeing real benefits. So your saying girls are not buying into the managements new set up?

No didnt say that - just said that SOME girls thik its way too early to be training and especially in the forest parks - their exact phrase was - "you dont play matches in forest parks" - why cant we just train on a pitch like normal teams do?

The above makes me disregard any thing you ever say with in relation to football. If a girl said that she's not a footballer if a coach thinks that then he/she will not be successful in my view. But suppose thats just my take on it.... mine and every Down manager thats won an All ireland

AGM is on the horizon, any big motions to be brought forward? i heard that the board are thinking of making 2 leagues instead of 3 this year? Would this affect championship standings? would it really benefit the county and smaller clubs may be very against it.

Does anyone know of anyone leaving/coming into the county board?

Word is that Downpatrick are folding, can they not join with another club? where would kyla trainor play her football? county isnt enough our top players need to be playing club and county week in week out. County girls are very quiet at the minute, anybody know of how that is progressing?

just heard confirmation that Paul Fitzsimons will not be fixtures secretary this coming year. Massive blow to Down ladies, the effort and time he puts in will be very hard to match and its a pity clubs give people in his position such a headache by not fulfilling fixtures

Who will stand in for that position now??? It is the most thankless job on any committee... If only they would fulfill fixtures on their set dates it would make much more sense and there would be no problems in ladies football in down... But i think we have mentioned this point before!!

So was speaking with two of the county panel yesterday. Girls played Queens on Monday night. Very close game they say. Anyone at it at all?

New committee elected and some very positive changes in the executive indeed. This is a good time for ladies football in the county as these people will do everything in their power to get the ladies games up where they belong again. Didnt hear about the game v queens - but surprised they play university teams when they have that to do again in Jan in the Dowd cup...

I hear the Ladies are playing UUJ tonight in game. Good to see they are playing games. Hopefully they can improve on the Queens game. From what I heard they took a hammering.

it would be good to see how girls get on when they play a few games. heard the game was closer against queens guvner in fact heard down used 3 different teams on the night and won 1 drew 1 and yea took a bit of a beating in 1st 3rd but its a good queens team actually 1 of their better teams in recent years and they stuffed UUJ so not as bad as all that i'm thinking. result prob not that important in a friendly but glad to see a panel of over 30 players, not that long ago we were lucky to have a team full stop, so hats off to squad and management keep her lit as they say. I'll hold judgement to later in season and see if we can do anything in league, tough start via All Ireland champs in 1st game of NFL 3, atleast its at home and we'll see were the team is at then i suppose. (can hear in distance kingdom and singer sharpening the knives and gettin the voodoo dolls out in anticipation of failure, lol)

Not long now until the NFL kicks off. Any inside info on how the girls are progressing? Im aware there was no christmas break for the panel and they trained throughout the holidays. I hope this doesnt have a knock on effect a few months down the line.

At Annsboro this cold January morning; good to see such a turn-out for senior training. Also one of the development squads were training as well (?>14?). Well done to the county committee and the team managements.

Great to hear so many out at training alright - but its what we expect... It is a county team afterall. No dowd cup this year - have they any challenge games lined up?

Been told they play Monaghan on Sunday. No venue or time but they definately have a game. Anyone know any more details? Whether they have been training well or not Monaghan is a bit out of Downs league? I suppose everything remains to be seen
