Ladies Management Committee have all resigned. County now being run directly by Central Council. Seannie Og (Down) - Posts: 952 - 08/03/2011 17:19:52 883929 Link 0 |
down.sup thou does protest too much..everyone knows the minor management orchestrated the situation. The main issue in all of this from what i hear was the minor managements refusal to co-operate with the other management teams and the skewed messages they relayed back to their team. I think teflon Dave wouldn't have had a look in.....any way can croke park run the county affairs??.....does anyone know what this means for the other 2000 girls that play club football?? the leagues were due to start in april but can they with no county board in force.... Well done Francie and Paul got your jobs back, not hard to do when the people you work for are making the decisions from what I hear. Talking to ex member of committee today looks like there is going to be no league football for any of the rest of the girls in the county. HOPE YOU ARE PROUD wreckers of football. What do our clubs do now????? as you seem to have all the answers. duff22 (Down) - Posts: 30 - 08/03/2011 21:07:13 884213 Link 0 |

duff22 and keepitclean - maybe you can enlighten us on your logic over this issue - solidair1 (Down) - Posts: 5 - 09/03/2011 08:54:01 884297 Link 0 |
solidair1 - get off your high horse. these girls have made a total mess of football in our county. having respect for management is one thing but to rip the whole club scene apart because of a stupid minor team is seriously bad. and then for down.sup to come on and say this was not riven by the players is way way off the mark. some of these girls need to take a serious look at themselves and where they are going with the county set up. francie and paul wont be there forever and what happens when the bulk of this minor team move to senior level in the next few months - there is no more f+p then - are parents not going to attend the games because the now ex chairman is part of the management of the senior team. I have never heard of anything so ridiculous in my life. Why could they all not sit down and thrash this out and f+p move to the side as they are obviously the problem. We now have nearly 2000 girls who have no club football to play over these two men. I was taking my own club ladies senior team for training last night and had to postpone training until further notice as we are not sure if there will be fixtures in the year ahead. How is that for the better of down football - and another point that angers me is the people who are constantly putting on this board all that f+p have done for down football - please name me in alphabetical order everything they have won so i can clear in my head exactly what these men have done for our ladies. And taking a team from u14 up to minors where they have won NOTHING doesnt count. Getting HAMMERED in Ulster finals doesnt count. Building a bond doesnt count, Breaking rules to suit the girls doesnt count. If these two men have the ordacity to still take a county team after wrecking ladies football in our county - they deserve all they get and good luck to them in Ulster. i for one will not be supporting them and after sending 24 club players home last night in disgust at not having any fixtures - they totally agree with me. singer (Down) - Posts: 330 - 09/03/2011 09:25:26 884313 Link 0 |
So where does Lady Football go from here? Frank Mitchell (Down) - Posts: 1082 - 09/03/2011 09:31:22 884316 Link 0 |
The team were never removed from the championship, the management team were sacked....somewhere in the ether lies the truth and as i said when you wear teflon you make sure nothing sticks...as my old granny used to say it will all come out in the long grass...would you like chips with that? Its all dead exciting isnt it? Frank Mitchell (Down) - Posts: 1082 - 09/03/2011 11:04:27 884383 Link 0 |
Frank and the ex co exec have somehow won here? They have clearly managed to wrestle the high moral ground by resigning and putting football in doubt. The minor guys did little wrong but lose patience with Frank and those he was controlling. They didn't even appeal the decision, they felt they couldn't win and seemed a little relieved all the hassle was over, by all accounts they said goodbye to the girls and walked away. -But anyone I have spoken with who attended either of the meetings could see something was very wrong about the whole thing. If you sling enough mud some of it will stick. The case was fought by parents, clubs didn't really endorse the ex co exec at the second meeting they just didn't want to put club football in doubt. Any support the ex-exec get now, is not based on facts or the rights and wrongs just cause and effect. When the whole thing went national the guys were forced to defend themselves and the committee were found more than a little exposed. Our ex exec have been fighting and losing too many cases at provincial and national level recently not to raise a few concerns! It has to be asked were they the best people to be running the county or just the ones prepared to do it. Instead of accepting they got a lot of things wrong, taking advice and learning from these mistakes they have decided to continue the mudslinging. In my opinion their egos are more important than the club footballers of down - I didn't see much enthusiasm from Francie when I spoke to him last night, he didn't want to talk but he said he knows there are no winners in this- while it would be easy for him to walk away now he has been cleared and let someone else pick up the pieces -he could blame his departure on the mudslingers - I doubt he will do that, he wants the girls to play football the result is not important anymore - Why resign and leave them without it ? Who would do that? ladiesman (Down) - Posts: 20 - 09/03/2011 13:35:59 884517 Link 0 |
Singer- Why did you send you players home and suspend training, are you on strike ? Things will move on and football will be played. Why are you punishing your girls ? soprano (Down) - Posts: 38 - 09/03/2011 13:47:47 884526 Link 0 |
As i already said soprano - at the minute there is no football being played in the county and it dont look very likely either. without a committee we are going nowhere. they cant possibly expect to put a new committee in place, release fixtures and get them played in April now. Why train girls just for the sake of it - Im not the minor management - thats what they do. singer (Down) - Posts: 330 - 09/03/2011 14:49:48 884593 Link 0 |
Its a bit presumptious to assume that a dozen members of an executive all representing different clubs would be incapable of making their own decision and then fault them for sticking to it. Funny how the common denominator in all the issues was the minor management and now as the teflon coat begins to tarnish they are starting to panic....getting found out is never easy.. Singer - I just don't believe your story and I fear you are closer to this than you admitt. Matches will be played in the county soon enough so no need to send 24 girls home (if that ever happened - which club are you with?). Frank Mitchell (Down) - Posts: 1082 - 09/03/2011 16:26:53 884705 Link 0 |
Can i ask why the executive commitee didnt just accept Croke Park's decision?? Obviously they croke park were nuetral and were just deciding on the right thing to do? down.sup. (Down) - Posts: 19 - 09/03/2011 16:30:07 884710 Link 0 |
KeepIt Clean - For future reference, saying, "everybody knows" to make your argument makes it sound weak. It makes it seem like you don't really believe what you are saying and need "everybody" to back you up. You also must ask yourself if you would be questioning Croke park's involvement if their decision was different? Lexxieboy (Down) - Posts: 2 - 09/03/2011 17:07:08 884757 Link 0 |
Lexxieboy i don't need anyone to tell me what i believe....look up the word pompous...u never know the cap might fit! KeepItClean (Down) - Posts: 18 - 09/03/2011 18:26:58 884841 Link 0 |
It appears they didn't all resign! Maybe a leader will emerge out of this chaos and put things in order. It's a real opportunity to stop the trivial infighting and start all over with a more agreeable personality in charge. We had quite a few good people in the committee who might just have been led in the wrong direction. If the right people stayed on board there could be a smooth transition and little disruption. soprano (Down) - Posts: 38 - 09/03/2011 18:48:34 884868 Link 0 |
