Obviously red1998 you just have a vendetta against last years rostrevor management and are comming on this site just to slabber about them.
You seem to have alot of opinions about the team, seeing as i hear rosterevor wouldnt have had a team, last year if the men hadnt stepped in. why dont you take them on yourself instead of comming on to this forum and slagging off everyone else????? however, with the harsh opinions(which no1 else shares...or could be bothered listening too) and the way you talk on this forum, i doubt that you are liked or that the rostrevor girls would want you anyway!

Duff, you must be one or know one of these 'retired' players and want someone to go and beg you back. IT SHOULD BE A PRIVALEGE TO WEAR THE RED AND BLACK OF DOWN and not a chore, so i hope your demand for the management to go crawling to these girls is ignored.

What does it say about the calibre of person that needs to be begged to play for their county. This would never happen with the men as they still see it as an honour to represent their county and they have been losing more games than they are winning in the last few years. As for the girls who are playin with the county at the minute i'm sure they see it as an honour also and whilst they are not covering themselves in glory they have the backing of the majority of people involved in Ladies football in Down.

Do you think its easy for these girls to train and play knowing they aren't gonna win many games, but then again this isn't why they are there?

So why don't YOU come down of your high horse and start supporting the people that care about Down and Down football and not these 'stars' that only care for themselves.

The young girls there at present deserve support and encouragement, most of them are putting in a big effort and a lot of time.
Get behind them, instead of knocking them all the time.If any of those who RETIRED in block want to return they only have to put the word out.

What are the predictions for the league and championship? I think the league may be in for a shock this year...too early to say anything but its not going to be the easy walkover that some teams think! I go for Castlewellan for the league with Bredagh as runners up and a Clonduff/Carryduff Final for Championship!

only game that will be close will be downpatrick and saval but i think they'll win it in the end. carryduff wont know whats hit them when they play bredagh, they'll walk league and championship again unless some of their players have moved house and transferred to their home clubs.

My Preditions

Castlewellan should shade a keenly contested derby, Bredagh v Carryduff should be much closer than many think, Saval should win a close encounter with RGU and Clonduff should account for Rostrevor.

Shamrocks should win in Annaclone, Ballymartin will win in Bright, Mayobridge to defeat Bredagh and Kilcoo to win in Burren.

Or not!

Annaclone will def beat shamrocks sat. They played saval in a friendly on sunday minus the county players and coped very well. Some players back from living abroad, new youth and a mix of experience. Carryduff should be much stronger this year. Did well last year and training hard at the min.

great result for carryduff last weekend beating bredagh...is it true that some of bredagh's players from last year have gone back to their home clubs?
this would be positive for down football as it will leave the senior league more open and competitive - with clonduff only beating by rostrevor by a point and saval beating downpatrick by a goal, it looks as though we will see an interesting season ahead!

From being at the Bredagh Carryduff game last week there can be no complaints as Carryduff deserved the victory. They were very fit and worked hard. There no6 had a great game and the sin bin of Bredaghs no6 left a big hole that wasnt filled. On paper Bredagh should have had enough to get passed Carryduff but the Carryduff girls showed that they wanted it more and fully deserved the victory. Not to take anything away from Carryduff but i dont think Bredagh will have another team as weak as that out again this season. However i could be wrong.
