I see in a report of the Clare game the minor girls are featuring again. Are the minors up and running?

Another great result for the ladies at the weekend... They need to be beating Clare and teams like that to progress to the next level. Not good enough

Duff, i don't know what your problem is with this years team or management but its really starting to annoy me.

Maybe division 2 is our level at the moment and we probably wont win anything soon, but the blame for this definately does not lie with the current management or panel, no matter what you say.

Teams like Clare and Donegal are better than us at the moment for one reason only. THEY have the best players in the county playing for them. They dont have rely on a very inexperienced panel like we are because Clare and Donegals star players would battle in div 2 for their county.

The blame lies firmly with our 'superstars' of last year that have quit and who have a huge, unwarranted opinion of themselves that they think they are bigger than the jersey. They think they are above battling it out at the bottom of the league.

As i see it there is no reason for this attitude towards themselves as despite people like you raving about last years team and management, we are still the worst senior team in Ulster, and are still without a win in the Ulster Championship.

I cant understand this, but maybe you can give us an answer as to why this is, as you seem to be in the know regarding last year and are definatley against this years team and management.

Lay off the team and management, they are trying their best. That can't be said for the 'losers' that have left us in the lurch.

God this is getting dull to read..... Can we please bring to an end what seems to be a never ending and pointless debate regarding 'last year v this year'.

Last year Down Ladies had their most successful year in a long time. In my view this was down to 2 reasons - The dedication and commitment of the Management and Panel, and 3 patient years of hard work!!!!!
However, three years (and longer in most cases) of putting everything on hold so that County football is the number 1 priority in your life takes its toll, and I personally think that anyone who wants to take a break after providing such a service to your county is more than entitled to do that. They should most certainly not be called 'losers' or treated with the disdain that is being shown them on this board. It's disgusting.

With regards to this year, After such wide scale changes, I don't think any fan of the team realistically expects them to be competing at the same level they were at last year. It's simply not going to happen.
Clare always were a difficult team to play against, so a draw against them is certainly not the end of the world. Hopefully with each match played the new team can gel together and they can start to string a few results together. There is a lot of talent on the panel (new and old) and if we get behind the team and management and give them the support and encouragement they need and deserve, then there is much to look forward to. I want to see them winning as much as the next person!

So please, can we talk about something else??????
Any word on when the Club Leagues kick off? Anyone predicting any surprises?

club leagues kick off Easter week as far as i am aware. they are a foregone conclusion before they even start. Senior league and championship will be won by county Bredagh, Rostrevor to be relegated, intermediate league won by Kilcoo with championship won by Annaclone - Burren to be relegated, and junior league won by Loughinisland and championship by Teconnaught. these are what i predict anyhow. Note on the county team - i hear our retired all star is making a comeback.. She has obviously heard how easy the training is and that you are guaranteed a jersey...

went and weatched a county training session recently and oh my god it was terrible. think the girls are taking teh sessions by the looks of things. in fairness to the last management - when the girls arrived to the session the pitch was laid out ready for the night ahead. These girls are COUNTY level now and i think the management need to realise this and treat them as such. I really think there is too much emphais on the minor team this year winning something which is putting too much pressure on these girls and they are taking there eyes of the biggest team in the county. One defeat, one draw - not what i expected at the beginning of the league. Management need to address some burning issues and real quick if this is to be a success..

So it would appear the County Seniors are rebuildings but the Co. Minors are expected to be competitive. Lets give the seniors time to rebuild and get behind the young minors this year. It might be wise to ensure they are not dropped into the seior set-up as a panic measure at the expense of the minor squad. I have recently discovered they have been methodically preparing and bonding for this years minor championship and have surprised a few university teams along the way.

Thats right Soprano, they beat us Jordanstown seconds, and they also beat Queens uni firsts team.
Everyone should get behind them this year as they are a very promising group of girls.

The minors are an excellent team, and very well coached, but remember that are up against Donegal, who won last years all-Ireland Mino and were runners-up in All-Ireland U-16. They must be strong favourites

The rostrevor girls did sack the 5 or 6 men that were with them last yr!!!!!!All teams deserve the best management and the rostrevor girls were hard done by last yr.The management hadnt a clue in my opinion:-(

to be fair i heard some reports from the girls themselves and they enjoyed the management, they weren't expected to win anything and they stayed up so all-in-all they did there job, however when we where playing them near the end of last year, one of the girls who was playing said that she never went to training and when i was marking her she b*t*hed about every other player on the team. So i don't think the problem was with the managers but with some of the girls attitude.
