puma-gal - you must be a relative of our retired star when you sing her praises so highly. She does owe us something - for all the years coaching she got - why dont she put something back and take a few of these "inexperienced" girls under her wing and talk them through games etc to build their confidence and help them to find their feet on the big stage. And as for singer - Down played with what they had and this is it my friend - with only the twin Fegans to come into the fray - they aint getting any stronger - lets get used to the ladies being back at the bottom of the pile - because thats where they are heading very shortly.

Another stuffing for the ladies on the way on Sunday. Its time for the management to step down and let someone who knows what they are doing take over... this minor team must be a good outfit when 9 of them played in the senior dowd cup over january.. Hope springs eternal...

i can't help but laugh at you Duff, double standards or what. Take a look back to last year when singer was calling for the managemnts head and you railed against him saying to support the management and county team etc yet here you are a mere few months later driving the boot into the set up and the county and predicting tankings, you're something else

Well said WestDownGael!!

The down senior management put so much effort into the team.
They should not be getting slagged of by people!!

Why do people have to be on here slagging off management. At least these guys had the guts to take on the job when no-one else wanted it. So give them some respect and let them try and rebuild this team after the obvious hole left by some of the players who left after last year. Good luck to players and management for the year ahead.

West down gael
Good point. :)
Duff what is your problem?? The down management are putting 100% effort in to the down ladies team, and they took the job on when nobody wanted it, im sorry, but did you put your name foward when they were looking for managment?
Exactly no you didnt,
so there is no absolutley no excuse for you to talk about the management like that, a little bit pathetic if you ask me... if you are not brave enough to step up to the task yourself then dont be critising the hard work and effort of the down management team who did step up to the task of continuing down ladies football.

Dude - tuck your oversized lugs in please... I am entitled to my opinion on this as well as you are. The management are a joke and you and i both know it. they had two great managers who brought them success - why didn they move heaven and earth til keep them too men, then they interviewed someone for the job and he went to armagh simply because of money being offered... if money is what it takes then go get some... and before you come back slabbering about did i dip my hand in my pocket for the ladies before - yes i bloddy well did under the previous management and was happy to do so as they were getting progress with the players and any one could see that - i dont mind paying for good things - but i dont throw my good money after white elephants......

Yes they did have two great managers last year. However, its about the determination and commitment of the girls to win not just the managers influence, its a youg team this year, of course its going to be tough on them but they can do really well if they work hard and belive in themselves. I never mentioned money to you,so dont go shouting off about that. I said dont critise them for taking the girls when no one else wanted too!

Duff, you whine about "they" not raising the money, and "they" not getting the right management team. Remember "they" are unpaid, overworked and unappreciated volounteers; why didn't you go to the AGM and volunteer for one of the posts. I have been on a club commitee for years and it always sickens me to hear compliants from do-nothings on the sideline

duff, are you wise at all. The dogs on the street knew that last years management had no intentions of ever staying a third year. They were always headin into mens management. Also these same two men have a third of last years team going to africa mid june to build houses (which is a reason why these girls havent committed to the team this season), so do you think this would have happened had they any heed on staying another year.

The current management have Down football at heart and will strive to rebuild a team for the good of football and with NO financial reward, so get off their back and support your county. As the saying goes; ASK NOT WHAT YOUR COUNTY CAN DO FOR YOU, BUT WHAT CAN YOU DO FOR YOUR COUNTY.

My advice is keep your opinions to yourself if they mean harm to a bunch of girls who are giving up their free time to try to bring honours to this county.

Why is there so much resentment in ladies football. You dont see the camogs on here bitching about each other. Catch yourself on and let the players and management at it.

Firstly gaaforall there is no b*t*hing about camogie because noone gives a damn about the game in this county. Not even half the players. If you want to start something then set up your own thread and watch with interest caus nothing will appear on it. puma_gal who is obviously an ex player from this panel - i am aware the dogs on the street knew of the lads intentions - but i know for a fact that they would have stayed if they were just concentrating on football and not everything that goes with it. Taking a good few of last years PANEL on a trip shouldnt affect the TEAM. Some of the girls going were only panel members and others should not have been anywhere near the team - but injury has ended further participation anyhow. The ladies play Clare this weekend and if they have any intention of staying in this league they need to be winning this game. And to those of you out there slabbering about this being a young team, give it time, the management are doing their best - get over it. some girls on the panel are so far off senior club standard let alone county standard its a joke, the players train when it suits them and are answerable to no-one so most turn up on the day of the game and get a jersey - this is not county football. The management could take a leaf from the two lads from last year and apply some discipline and rules to the panel. If these so called young players get away with doing as they please now - they will always do it and Down ladies football will suffer in the long run because of it.

I agree on half what duff says. Some players are just coming and going as they please and come match day, they are starting. The managemnet are putting in 100% but there needs to be some structure! A county should be a TEAM who are committed and willing to give everything for their county!!!!

I also believe if they dont beat clare on sunday...Down Ladies are in Big trouble this year!

Godd Luck
