Down ladies - Proper message board

Glad to hear singer has dried up in the last couple of days. Its also great news that Paul Mc Shane got the Annaclone mens managers job for next season - this club is a sleeping giant and Paul and his backroom team can certainly resurrect them to greater heights. Hope to see them in division one soon.
Any word of the ladies minor league this season??? I hear that Rostrevor and Bridge are joining up as a team - any truth??

Burrenman - the job hasnt been given out yet - so how do you know they wont get it? They are the front runners for the post. Sort your own mess out in your club before coming on here and slagging genuine football fans...

Any word of a manager yet? I see Armagh have appointed a down man to their county ladies post. Think this man was in for the Down job as well - but as usual we are dragging our heels when appointing someone. Is there anyone out there who can get this panel up and running soon? Division one is going to be some step up and they need to be training - NOW...

Is there not a rule that county teams cant start training until January? Or is that just the men?!

Singer why don't you apply for the job. You seem to know everything! You coudn't wait to get rid of the last management and now the ladies have no-one, so go on, put your head on the line and take some responsibility for a change instead of criticising!!

Theres no such rule for the ladies. We were flat out training this time last year, which makes the current process in not finding a suitable manager for us very frustrating.

Can anyone confirm if Ciaran Quinn has been approached for the job as i have been told recently that he is not impressed by the set up in Monaghan and is very frustrated at the way they are handling the management situation there.

Why don't we strike now while the iron is hot and give him the job and the support that he is obviously not getting in Monaghan. We will be getting someone that knows div 1 football and has a inside knowledge of 2 other ulster teams. What more could we want?

Why would the county waste time getting a new manager in place. I see they had the presentation night last week in Hilltown Hotel and Lisa Morgan got player of the year.... Kyla Treanor was by far the best player for the county last season and single handidly led them to a division 2 title. She should have got that award.

Who cares????

Its about time other girls are given the recognition that they deserve instead of the same people all the time.

Sad to see the disgusting attitude of ballym1. Any player who has given so many years to their county, regardless of peoples opinions of them, should be respected and praised for their commitment. Few players last 3 seasons representing their county and some of the more senior players on last years panel have been training and playing their hearts out for 14+ seasons. I hope the afore mentioned next generation of players can give the same commitment and effort as their more senior colleagues, somehow I doubt it!

Developing into a top class player begins with respect for the experience of older players. Hard work and respect leads to development, over confidence and believing you are already too good leads to resentment at being on the bench Ballym1!

Whether Micheala decides to return to the County team after January or not, then i think she has earned the right to make the decision thats right for her. She owes nothing to down football or anyone in down football.

The problem we have in Down is the other players that think that at 26 or even 23 they have done it all and have either taken a year out to concentrate on other sports or because the management in their opinion might not be as good as last years they have 'retired'.

This is a complete cop out by players that have done nothing in Senior inter county football, and this is how they will always be remembered.

Lets give the girls who really want to play for down a chance and not expect too much too soon, at least we know they are in it for the love of their county.

I cant believe what i am reading - Michaela is retiring... This is an absolute outrage and should not be allowed to happen. this lady needs to be involved in the coaching of the senior panel this year with a view to being manager next year. i can guarantee success if Michaela is to be manager.
