I see in todays irish news that armagh have advertised their vacant managers job. this gives them a head start on finding someone. so can our officials get a move on and either appoint someone or advertise the post. time really is of the essense.

Because of the quality (or lack of) of the 2/3 people being mentioned already for this job. and maybe because there is a shortage of candidates queing up for this job as well, we should do whatever we can to intice the previous management back. Only a suggestion as we dont have too many other options.

speaking of managers i think its time rostrevor ladies were looking for a new management team for next year, if current management not changed then i think that this young talented team may not be around for much longer!

Why would you say that about the rostrevor management!! They kept them up this year. You must remember that these people are volunteers and took on a very difficult job!

There are whispers going about that last years management have reconsidered their decision and are willing to take the Down Ladies for another year. I hope this is true and the county board offer them everything they require in order to carry on their good work.

The leagues are dragging on too long. I would suggest that next year we don't postpone games due to county matches, then the league might be a teste of a squads strength in depth. I appreciate that our county board are overworked volunteers with a thankless job, but this might make things easier;just publish the fixtures list and stick to it

Cork, Clare and Antrim are all ireland champions for 2009..... HOw many of the current Down squad would make any of these teams??? For the junior and Intermediate sides probably about 3 - for Cork - not one player is at that standard.... Is there any word of a new management set up yet - this county board are a joke and need to get this sorted quickly as too many other counties out there who are neighbours of ours are also looking for management. I dont want those two from last year re considering their futures and coming back.. It was backward step two years ago taking them and it would be major step back now.....

""Cork, Clare and Antrim are all ireland champions for 2009..... HOw many of the current Down squad would make any of these teams??? For the junior and Intermediate sides probably about 3 - for Cork - not one player is at that standard""????????????? Another stroke of genius from singer, oh my god does this man watch any ladies football??? Beyond a joke now!! 3 players on those junior or intermediate teams??? HaHa. Junior- Fair play to Antrim on sunday but i remember a heavy defeat by a weakened down team in castlewellan this year. Try 3 antrim players making down team, if even? Intermediate- Clare or Fermanagh. A weakening clare team who were outplayed when last played in April 08 but stole the game by a point, i would expect a different outcome given the Down girls increased mental strength of late. Fermanagh who Down hammered in the league this year, with Fermanagh scoring 3 points to Down's 1-11. Again more like 3/4 fours players capable of making the Down team Senior- Cork? Fair enough, cork are the yard stick for all but Down have some top drawer players, just at the minute, Cork have them in most of the fifteen positions. To sum up- (1) Progress has definitely been made, Some Down players have developed well and a few starting to emerge. (2) Singer doesn't have a clue!! (3) Discussing football keeps us from getting bored

Congrats to Jackie Clarke and Ciaran Quinn on being named new down managers. At last the Down county board have acted swiftly and appointed two people who actually know what they are doing.... Hope these two can work their magic - they both have tasted All Ireland final day and lets hope to see the red and black in croke park on final day in the not too distant future.

There was an advert in the papers this week seeking management for the Down Ladies Senior team so there is probably no one in place yet.
