Big game on sunday for the ladies - weather permitting of course....... They had another game scheduled for sunday past and had to be postponed because of the snow. Hope this one takes place. Any word of the team or who do you think should start???? I will name my 15 later in the week and will base it on who is in the panel this time no outsiders.........

Duff agree with most of your team however - this would be my line out..... Elaine Mc Court Aine Keary - Eliza Downey - Niamh Lennon Emma Mulhern - Aoibheann Downey - Ciara Mc Ardle Kyla Trainor - Aine Hardy Caroline O'Neill - Lisa Morgan - Grainne Mc Clean Aileen Pyres - Michaela Downey - Catherine Mc Govern This is by far the strongest group of 15 in the current panel and hope to see these girls all in action at some stage on sunday. The bench looks pretty strong this year as well - Fionnuala Carr, Mairead Trainor, Jenna Connell, Twin Fegans - looking good..... Lets make sure we dont slip up on sunday against Cavan...

Lisa Owens Aine Keary Aoibheann Downey Bronagh Mc Curry Emma Mulhern Eliza Downey CiaraMc Ardle Kyla Trainor Mairead Hardy Orla Fegan Lisa Morgan Grainne Kelly Aileen Pyers Michaela Downey Catherine Mc Govern Some of these players may not be there but it would be in Down's interest to try and get them there. I would like to have put F. Carr in mid-field, but I think Down football needs a pair in mid-field for all year round. Fionnuala is instrumental to the down camogs and should be used when avail, but this may mean after or before camogie matches in instances and mid-field is unfair.- in addition if dual players are to be considered in key roles I think Karen Mc Mullan should be looked at. Down have had to rely on putting M. Downey a lot deeper last year to try and get the ball to the forwards. Mairead and Kyla could pull this off providing both get to top fitness level and remain injury free. That's just my opinion though, and no matter who takes the pitch I'm sure they are well worth their place and I wish them well.

Can you believe how bad the ladies were today?? Cavan are a division 3 team and intermediate championship team and this was shown in some of their ploay throughtout the game... we were not good at all... Why did the management wait so long before making changes to the setup?? When Emma Mulhern and Fionula car came on the game changed in DOwns favour.. these girls need to be starting the next game for sure..... on evidence of todays performance - Meath will put us out of sight altogether in two weeks..... Michaela Downey and Kyla Trainor aside - this was a very average performance by a team who hope to be playing division 1 football next season.........

Singer, get of the ladies back, your comments on this message board are a joke.

Go and play football instead of spending all day putting our county teams down.

Was at ladies match yesterday and whilst they may not have blown Cavan away I thought they played some very good football. They look very sharp and fit and strong and with just some more composure in front of goal they could have won by a far bigger margin. Everyone on the team played well as did the subs that came on which shows that they do have good strenght and depth in the squad. The managers biggest problem will be finding the best fifteen though I suppose it could depend who they are playing as they have players who suit different teams better then others. But well done and I'm looking forward to the next game.

Were you even at the game - at least i support the team when they are playing and be honest in my opinions about the game afterwards......... They have massive test coming up against Meath and i hope there are many things ironed out before that game takes place........

Totally sick of reading singers pathetic thoughts, never mind the fact they are so biased against the management they over look the actual pattern of the match. Impact of changes yesterday was minimal except for aoibheann downey who really influenced the game when introduced. Cavan goals followed some of the changes and cavan kicked loose ball at end to midfield area. Sinead fagan looked more at home at left half back. Emma mulhern could be more effective in the sweeping role. Down exciting going forward but at time over focused on goals and loose play at times in the middle and half back lines lost costly possession to cavan in dangerous areas.

Thought the game yesterday was excellent advertisement for the fastest growing sport in Ireland at present.... Hope the down girls take great pride and heart from the result and show against all the other teams in the league that they mean business this season... Down ladies need to be playing division 1 football to improve and this should be their aim for the season ahead - to get promotion...... Hopefully with the power play they showed yesterday - they are well on their way to acheiving that goal..... Well done all concerned....

To win on a score of 6-12 at any time of the year is a great achievement, but at the early stages of the league campaign in the month of February is particularly impressive. Cavan will always produce a strong physical performance no matter who they meet, and while some, with an obvious ignorance of the ladies set up, would say "can you believe how bad the ladies were today?" I think this performance deserves much praise! Keep up the good work.

Haven't seen the fixtures list yet, but no real shock that it's starting around the end of march, it was the same last year. Mind you 4weeks notice isn't great!! Not a lot of time to work in some challenge games, especially with the county girls having games throughout march.
Think most teams have been back to training, but this will certainly cause teams to up the effort! I think it should be an interesting season....anyone's title i reckon!!
Also, congrats to the county girls, an excellent start to the campaign against cavan, and great to get of to a winning start!

Now the real test is this sunday... Meath have won both thier section games to date and will definitely go into the game as favourites.. Down will be hoping that Kyla trainor can recover from injury and none of their players get hurt in the university cups this week......... Any ideas on team selection or will they stick with the 15 who finished the game the last day???
